There’s a group hanging around a spot where rare monsters spawn. It might seem like they’re resting in a safe area, but it reminds me of my painful experience of having people swipe monsters I was fighting.
But I’m rank A now. The judgment to determine if I can go up to A+ will take some time, but there should be little chance people will get in my way or start something with me.
Aira can see I’m concerned, and steps forward to keep them in check.
“We are about to fight a rare monster. Please step back unless you want to be caught in the crossfire.”
“Eh, what… A maid!?”
We stand between them and the smoke, and it starts to well up. Then a Hobgoblin emerges.
‘Guoooooh!!’
“Uwa, it really appeared!”
“Then is that the Rare Monster Hunter!?”
‘Guoah!’
I grab the steel greatsword as it’s swung down. I can’t look cool catching it with two fingers just yet, but catching it with one hand is easy. After all, it’s just a Hobgoblin of the second floor.
The Hobgoblin’s nature means it stubbornly holds on to the sword, and it’s basically just a big toy now.
“Ayane, Aira.”
“There is no need for that anymore, master.”
“Oops, you’re right.”
I was signaling for them to attack, but they don’t have to.
The love necklace I gave them has a hidden effect to share my experience even if they don’t fight. It’s an incredible feature.
What’s more, is that I didn’t find that, my mother-in-law Sakuya did. That means her Appraisal is higher than mine, and she can see more than me.
Of all the people I’ve met so far, she’s the one that seems to be further ahead on the path I’m walking. She’s beautiful too, and has a sort of cuteness to her. Her eyes felt so heated when she looked at me.
That’s Ayane’s mother, but she really is a true witch. She absolutely looks like her older sister!
Is that proof that leveling up not only brings beauty, but maintains it?
I like my four fiancees, and my heart wasn’t moved at all by my two sisters-in-law, but I’m scared that I might be swayed by her if she invited me.
…Ah, thinking about it makes me want to see her more.
“…Ling. Darling!”
“Hne!?”
“Don’t get lost in thought during a battle.”
“A-ah, sorry.”
‘Guoh, goooh!!’
Yeah, I’m holding the Hobgoblin’s sword.
“Master. First it was sisters, then master and servant, and your next target is mother and daughter? Your lack of principles is beyond help.”
“Shut up.”
I’m used to her reading my mind, but don’t run your mouth to everyone around us. And what’s beyond help is the way you channel everything in that direction.
“What about our audience?”
“They moved a little further back.”
I look over there, and see them watching. It looks like they really were just taking a break.
Was I too worried about people swiping monsters…?
“Ayane, the camera?”
“It’s been on the whole time.”
“Then cut to here.”
“All right… It’s done.”
“Then… Doryah!!”
I use Martial Arts to perform an overhead throw, sending the Hobgoblin rolling on the ground.
As I throw it, I kick it in the torso hard, causing considerable damage. It looks like it’s having trouble getting up.
“Three times Magic Missile.”
I fire magic at the Hobgoblin that’s squatting a few dozen meters away. The Magic Missile clears the distance in a second, and pierces its body, sending it flying.
This really is ridiculously strong.
No one levels up from just a Hobgoblin, so we just watch the smoke.
“What will happen?”
“I wonder…”
“If the spot where it landed is designated as inside the spawn area, this will have been for nothing.”
“Ah, you’re right. Maybe I should’ve thrown it further…?”
While we wait, I open my map and check, but then I notice something odd.
“…Oh?”
Monsters are red, people are white. Treasure chests are green, but I haven’t seen any here. However, over there where the smoke is coming out, there’s a faint red dot, even though monster corpses never appeared here. Not only that, but it’s much bigger than other red dots.
“This isn’t even a dot, it’s more like a big circle.”
Is this a new feature of Automatic Mapping III? I can enlarge and shrink the map by touching it too. I can’t tell what every red dot is, but this big one… It’s that, right?
The hilly area is near here, and I can see a similar reaction in the hill wolves’ crater. Not only that, but there are multiple white dots and a lot of red dots moving all over the place like they’re fighting.
“Aira.”
“Yes master.”
“The map function was updated. There’s a good chance a Boss Wolf spawned nearby. It looks like they’re fighting, but I’m worried, so go check it out and give them a hand if necessary.”
“Very well.”
Aira doesn’t question it, and immediately moves out to obey my command. She runs like the wind, and is soon out of my sight, but I can see her white dot on the map. It won’t take her a minute to get there.
Our Aira really is efficient.
“What about us, darling?”
“Let’s watch the smoke like we planned.”
“Yes.”
We wait, and then the smoke wells up and moves very fast behind me.
And after it reaches its designated spot, a monster spawns.
‘Gigih!’
As before, it targets the weakest person nearby and charges forward, but…
‘Gieh!?’
“I am not like I was back then.”
Ayane blocks it, and smacks the General Goblin on the head with her staff.
“Ah, I overdid it.”
“It’s fine, it’s not dead.”
There’s a big dent in its helmet, and it’s barely breathing, but it’s not releasing smoke yet. And then I finish off the General Goblin that’s at death’s door without mercy.
【Level up】
【Leveled up from forty-four to forty-five】
The experiment is done. Rare II do move before spawning, and I got to see up close how much Ayane’s grown.
