“…?”
I’m sending magic energy to the Rainbow Slime, but it feels strange.
I can send it like I do to Enki and Enril, but it feels like it’s spilling from a container.
I guess I can’t send magic energy to a wild monster like I do to an empty golem core.
“…Ahh.”
I stop, and look at it again.
I feel just a little bit of my magic energy in the Rainbow Slime. However, there isn’t a deep connection like I have with the golems. So, is this a failure?
“What is it, darling?”
“I don’t think I can do it.”
“Disappointed!”
“Too bad…”
“I guess even you can’t tame a monster without a taming skill, uh Shouta?”
“I felt like it could work… Too bad.”
“Then what should be done with it, master?”
Everyone’s eyes turn to the Rainbow Slime jiggling in my arms.
“…Let’s leave it and go. I don’t feel like finishing it at this point. And I’m pretty confident I’ll be sad if I try to take it outside and it disappears.”
“I think it’s cute too now. I don’t want to watch it disappear…”
“It’s rare for a monster to be docile, but if we can’t tame it, there’s nothing we can do.”
“Master, should I attract them with incense?”
“Ah, but then this one will get caught too. Enki, can you take it and leave it close to the entrance?”
‘Goh.’
“Enril, control the incense with wind so it only goes deeper into the cave.”
‘Popo!’
That way, this Rainbow Slime won’t be affected, and it will disappear eventually on its own. It’s too bad I couldn’t take it with me, but I guess I’ll try that again some time later.
Enki carefully leaves with the slime, and we activate the incense. Enril flaps its wings, and I see red dots start to move on my map. They’re slowly but surely coming this way. Normally this would be a bit scary, but not when we know they’re slime…
I also see red dots pouring from passages not shown on my map, and it looks like a ton will rush towards us if we leave them be.
“What are you seein’ Shouta?”
“They’re coming, but they’re slow. It will take some time for them to get here.”
“I see.”
‘Popo!’
I have nothing to do, so I pet Enril and see something happen on the map. It looks like they got stuck in the corner, creating a bottleneck. More and more are piling up there, and before I know it, hundreds of red dots are jammed in there. It’s like salmon roe.
“Oh.”
I keep watching, and the dots suddenly turn into three big red dots.
The map calls them Huge Red Slime, so there’s no doubt about it. These things are about a hundred slimes put together.
They keep combining, ending at six.
They’re definitely stronger than regular slimes, but I’m pretty sure they only have fifty Agility. Then again, no matter how high their Agility gets, their slime bodies aren’t made for moving, so I think they’re slow even compared to other monsters with fifty Agility.
Looking at the distance on the map…
“They should be here in about five minutes, six big ones. I want to take them down at the same time if possible.”
“Understood. If they are spread out, I will try to line them up.”
“I’ll help!”
“Thanks. It’s not going to be easy with six of them, and I might not even pierce them all. Make it two lines, three if that doesn’t work.”
“Very well.”
“Okay!”
I hold up the Kaiser Vein, and they appear after a few minutes.
Maybe it’s because they came straight through the cave, but they’re neatly lined. Still, there’s some deviation. Also, my combat skill has good penetration power, but they have Physical Resistance. I’m not too sure I can pierce them all in one shot.
“Oh oh, that’s a lot of pressure.”
“Sorry, can you split them in two lines?”
“Then I will take the right, and Miss Aki will take the left.”
“Leave it to me!”
Both jump forward, and evade the many tentacles attacking while smacking them down and putting the monsters into position. Aki and Aira’s stats have increased a lot too, and around the time when we conquered the fourth floor, stopped being able to perform to their fullest. But they trained with me the past week, and the amount of power they can draw from themselves has clearly increased.
If I try to quantify the results of my training, I’d say I’m about at the level where my stats are all at three thousand. That should put me close to Aira’s current stats, but my moves lack her luster.
The reason is simple, Aira uses her stats to their fullest, while I’m using less than half of mine. The moment I step outside of my controllable boundary, my body rejects it and I can’t move how I want.
That’s why I have to hold myself back within those boundaries to fight in a stable manner.
“Darling I’m filming Aira’s moves perfectly. We just need to watch them again later.”
“I’m following my sister. You just need to focus on taking them down.”
“Thanks, you two. Purple Lightning Arrow, Stack Attack, Power Charge.”
Aki and Aira create two lines of three, and I fire after they take some distance.
Whoosh!
The purple lights pierce the enemies and turns them to smoke.
But I don’t level up.
