“It’s great how we finished the boar area in one day ’cause you learned Vision Sharing.”
“You were mostly in Enki’s hands, but you’re still tired, right?”
“Not really. And we edited the footage of the snakes and Dread Boar ’cause we were sitting the whole time. All that’s left is the Grand Boar.”
“Ooh.”
“And we looked into the boar monsters’ skills, so we can explain them.”
“Please do.”
First, Fury.
This is one of those rare skills that physically changes the user. A monster’s head or a human’s hair turns bright red. Of course, that’s not all, it boosts Physical Strength and Constitution, but makes it so the user can only see the enemy ahead. It really is the embodiment of a mad charge.
It’s a considerable boost despite affecting more than one stat, and I think I can expect a pretty big boost when combined with passive skills… But the downside is too big. Will Self-Control help? My intuition says no, so maybe I won’t touch it.
It doesn’t activate automatically, and I kind of want to see myself with red hair… If it’s not permanent. Yes.
Next, Charge Attack.
This is an attack that dashes against an enemy up ahead, and boosts the damage of all close range attacks. I don’t know how much exactly, but True Appraisal says the base version is 1.3, II is 1.5, and III is 1.8.
I don’t typically dash attack like that, but since there’s no downside, I’ll take a III.
Next, Chaotic Super Strength.
This appears to be the fourth Physical Strength skill after Great Strength, Super Strength, and Asura. It works for three minutes and has a ten minute cooldown. Rather than triple Physical Strength, it quadruples it.
This means that if I use the Physical Strength skills Great Strength V, Super Strength IV, Asura II, and Adamantine Strength II… 2+2.5+3.5+2.8+4… About eleven times. I feel like my arms will come off if I don’t use Constitution skills too.
Lastly, Weapon Break and Armor Break.
These are known as skills rare monsters have, but there are few reports of them dropping, so no research has been done.
And True Appraisal shows me something frightening.
Name: Weapon Break
Grade: Legacy
Classification: Arts skill
Description: Any weapon below level ten has a 100% chance of breaking when an attack occurs. Weapons below level twenty have a 30% chance of breaking and a 70% chance of being damaged.
Name: Armor Break
Grade: Legacy
Classification: Arts skill
Description: Any armor below level ten has a 100% chance of breaking when an attack occurs. Armor below level twenty has a 30% chance of breaking and a 70% chance of being damaged.
My weapon is level thirty-three, and my armor is just barely around twenty and twenty-two. That’s not a problem now, but I’ll have to watch out for monsters with II break skills. If it comes to that, I’ll have to fight them naked, but I hope it doesn’t.
“I see. Uncle got you that weapon, but the armor is regular armor sold in the association branch in front of the high rank dungeon.”
“Maybe we should swap it for something more advanced, like the sort of thing that appears in auctions.”
“But we can’t check its level without darling.”
“Miss Sakuya could, but it would be best not to owe her anything…”
Yes, relying on my mother-in-law Sakuya… Should be a last resort.
“Come to think of it, weapons come out of treasure chests often, but what about armor?”
“They do. The rate is 20% weapons, 50% accessories, and 30% armor.”
“Eh… Did those percentages come from the association?”
“Yep.”
But I feel like these percentages don’t do much for me…
“But Shouta only gets weapons…”
“Perhaps that is because they have the lowest odds.”
“That’s darling for you!”
“That’s nice, but I don’t think that bias is very nice.”
“Maybe you’ll get equipment from them if you really want it!”
Ayane says while pointing at the treasure chest dropped by the rare II boar.
All the weapons that came out of treasure chests are good. My bow, Aki’s fists, Maki’s spear, they’re good enough to be main weapons. I don’t want them to not come out anymore, but I don’t want it to be just weapons either. But… Will it really change if I wish for it?
“No… I’m sure it won’t… Maybe?”
“Master, he who believes shall be saved.”
“I’m sure you’ll get what you want with your Luck.”
“Try opening it, Shouta!”
“Let’s… Give it a shot then.”
I picture armor in my head strongly, and reach towards the first treasure chest.
