*****

I was confused about the message, because I didn’t see any trophies lying around. I wasn’t expecting it to be here. So it’s not a physical thing…? What does it mean?

And as for the dropped items… Sadly, there’s no Limit Break.

That’s fine though. Maybe it’s my Intuition, but it seemed dangerous.

And I got all the other drops, so I put them all in my backpack.

And then, all the other teams, not just team C, come here. Well, except for team A, who was on the other side of a diagonal line and hasn’t gotten here yet. But that means that sixteen personnel saw my fight.

“Ah… Good work.”

‘Good work!’

I feel burning eyes on me. What…

Anyway, this is spilling over to the next day, so I’ll do just one more thing.

“Hum… Team A, how long will it take you to get here?”

‘Five more minutes!’

“Understood. Ah… Then I’ll go make a rare monster spawn, so can you hang on a bit?”

‘Yes!!’

What is this… It’s not bad, I just get itchy about this feeling I’m not used to.

Anyway, how many hundreds will I need to hunt for this final task?

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

I don’t get much luck, because I have to take down three hundred before another one spawns. At least everyone waits patiently.

And what comes out, is a regular Golden Worm.

I meet up with the five investigators, along with Youko and Aki who got here later than the others, and we watch as the twenty adventurers fight the monster.

Maybe it’s because they watched me fight, and the video too, but they put all their attention into fighting up close, and fight in a way that’s advantageous to them. Although the ground is all tattered after my fight with the powered up one, so they have trouble moving around.

Incidentally, Golden Worms typically don’t move from their spots, so that doesn’t really matter.

It’s been ten minutes.

It’s my first time seeing a group fight, I think as the battle wraps up without much issue. But sadly, it doesn’t drop any orbs, just a Golden Seed and two large magic stones.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting any drops the moment I relinquished the right to take it down, so I don’t accept them. I instead tell them to take them as a memento of sorts.

They’re thankful, but I’m not sure why.

Anyway, today’s unforeseen operation is over.

I still don’t know how that powered version spawned, but that’s a matter for another day. I report, and it’s over. And I managed to find out that the powered up one won’t move unless I get closer either.

They’re going to clean up the rest, so I leave ahead of them with Aki, but…

“Welcome back Shouta and Aki.”

Maki is waiting by the entrance to the dungeon, in a bad mood.

“T-thanks Maki.”

“Oh dear…”

“That’s not fair Aki. I wanted to watch Shouta go to work too…”

Eh? That’s why she’s…?

“I didn’t watch either. I was mostly standing by the entrance with the reserve personnel. I just heard Shouta’s reports…”

“It’s still unfair!”

“Hahaha… I guess that makes sense if you’re the one being left behind… All right, you handle the rest, Shouta!”

“Eh!?”

Aki then dashes away.

“Ah…”

“…”

“Were you worried?”

“Yes, a lot.”

Maki says with her eyes moist.

Yes, not to borrow Aki’s words, but she feels like she was left behind, even though that’s not what we did.

“You were fast asleep, and I figured it would be over before you woke up… Sorry. It took longer because something unforeseen happened.”

And after I say that, I hug the still uneasy looking Maki.”

“Ah…”

“I’m back Maki.”

“Yes, welcome back…”

I pat her head, wipe her tears, and she happily leans into my hug, looking cute again.

Ah… I need to tell her already. My mind won’t hold if I keep seeing her like this every time.

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

The next day, we take it easy until noon, and then head to the Heart Dungeon to hear about how it’s going to be managed going forward.

“Amachi, thank you for your cooperation last night.”

“And good job to you too.”

Youko looks tired. She should rest, but I don’t think she can afford to now.

“First, about the four spawning points. We aren’t going to do anything about them for now. We considered keeping them under watch, but the cost would be too high, and they are off the dating courses. And because of these two points, we are leaving them be.

The adventurers escorting the customers will stop them from going to those places, and also, we have decided to keep information about the rare monsters a secret to all but a few high ranking adventurers. If they all knew about it, there would definitely be trouble with the regular customers.”

I see.

“Lastly, about you, Amachi. As a thank you and an apology for the inconvenience, we are going to make an exception for you, and all items you find here can be taken without having to go through the association. Also, you can fight all you want, as long as it’s not in the dating courses.”

“Are you sure? It sounds pretty disadvantageous to you.”

I wasn’t expecting this.

That means they are letting go of the commission they would receive through items, magic stones, and skill orbs that would be put up for auction.

She’s saying that I can take all those things from here, and take them to the beginner dungeon to have them assessed there.

“This branch doesn’t rely on rewards from hunting monsters to begin with. The things others pick up are enough. Our branch’s goal is not to harvest resources from the dungeon. We are changing the public’s perception of dungeons as both a threat as a profitable place. And we are showing that not all adventurers are dangerous ruffians.”

“…That doesn’t sound easy, but good luck. And you can count on me if there’s more trouble with rare monsters.”

“Thank you for that. Please keep visiting the Heart Dungeon.”

Youko and I shake hands, and I leave.

Hmm… I wonder how long it will take before they show what the trophy is for.
