Level Gacha ~ It turns out the dump stat 『Luck』 is the most important – Roll 52 – Looking back at the past

“Ah, that really startled me. I didn’t expect those two to be a couple of proper young ladies.”

So they’re granddaughters of the main office chief…

It’s been a few hours since I heard that shocking revelation from the branch manager, and after declining those two’s invitation to go back to their place, I return to my home.

Maki always felt to me like she had a nice upbringing, but Aki… Thinking back, maybe she’s self-aware too, because the way she pouts is cute.

“I feel like I haven’t been home in a while… But this really is inconvenient.”

It’s been three days, and I’m honestly thinking about moving out. After all, the dungeon closest to here is Unlucky Hall, not the beginner dungeon. And it takes about an hour on foot to get there.

Aki can actually drive, and apparently that’s how she commuted, but I take a bit too long because I take the train.

Basically, it’s all kind of annoying.

I started living here because the rent is cheap, and it’s close to Unlucky Hall, but I don’t really have any attachment to this place. In fact, this place was once flourishing when the dungeon first appeared, but once people realized what it was like, it became pretty much a ghost town.

This building was renovated to be used by adventurers, but after all that happened, property values plummeted, and it’s pretty much empty.

At the time, I had just become an adventurer and was having trouble even with goblins, and figured I could reliably win against the slime in Unlucky Hall. And I moved here just as rent was hitting rock bottom.

I think I was just barely making enough money every month. Ten a day… Making it two thousand yen. And rent along with electricity and heat came to a total of forty thousand. By going there every day, I managed to scrape enough money together to buy food.

I realized putting SP into Physical Strength meant little when I was fighting slime, so I bet on the stat everyone else had abandoned, Luck. But I only got two SP with every level up, meaning I didn’t see a big difference with just a couple of level ups.

Still, a month later, around the time when I had poured five levels worth of SP into Luck, I finally saw a clear change in how much I was making per day.

I was able to get forty minuscule magic stones in a day.

It was Luck that increased the drop rate, combined with my stats that grew very slowly with each level up, which made hunting more effective for me.

And around the time when it became typical for me to hunt a hundred every day, it appeared. My first rare monster, Pale Blue Slime.

At first I thought it was just my eyes playing tricks. It looked very similar to the regular Blue Slime, behaved exactly the same, and dropped the same minuscule magic stone, so I didn’t think it was special. But since I didn’t do anything but beat slime, I continued thinking about its spawn conditions.

I hunted hunted hunted hunted.

And then I hunted hunted hunted.

And after hunting countless slime, a Green Slime emerged from the smoke of a dead Pale Blue Slime.

That was when I started to understand. There was a chance it would appear if I hunted a hundred in a row.

After that, I kept hunting, focusing only on what came next. I poured the SP I got from leveling up with the little experience I got into Luck, and the drops rates continued getting better.

And after three years of stubbornness, I reached my goal.

Looking back, it was kind of a waste. After all, if the probability fell below one percent, there was a good chance rare monsters wouldn’t spawn at all.

At first, the expected value of Pale Blue Slime appearing was the same as Hobgoblins and Murder Rabbits, one. And when it appeared at first my Luck was ten. That means it was a ten percent chance. And if we assume the expected value was halved each time, that would make it five percent, two point five, one point twenty-five…

That means that no matter how hard I worked back then, my limit was the fourth stage, the Purple Slime. No, wait… If we halve it each time, and my Luck was sixty, that would make it a zero point nine chance that the Rainbow Slime appeared…

Well, it’s all just a theory.

It’s probably not half every time, there’s probably some calculation errors.

“I’m getting off track. Anyway… I don’t think there’s any point in living here anymore. I’m probably going to meet the slime again to test how Level Gacha grows… But not now.”

That means I really should move.

As for what I want to take with me… There’s really not a lot. All the furniture was already here, and all that’s important to me is my equipment. I haven’t planted the Golden Seeds either.

I should talk to Aki and Maki to see if they know of any good places near the beginner dungeon.

I have money, so I could even stay in a nearby hotel in the meantime.

Ah, there’s the auction tomorrow. That would mean we’d have to put this on hold at least until the day after tomorrow.

This building is technically being administered by the association, so I can ask them to deal with the contract and my departure.

“Ah, that’s right.”

I have to roll the gacha before I go to sleep.
