My Twin Sister Was Taken as a Miko and I Was Thrown Away but I’m Probably the Miko – Chapter 18 – Girl and the beast people’s village – Part four

“Hm…”

I slowly open my eyes and see a ceiling.

I know this ceiling, this is the healer’s house.

Oh? Why was I sleeping? My head is spinning.

I try to get up, but I don’t have the strength. I’ve never felt like this before.

I’ve never been sick or anything, so I’m a little surprised.

Why does my head hurt so much? What did I do?

As I wonder about this, the door opens.

“Ah!”

And I hear Gaius’s voice.

“You’re awake! Great…!”

“Yes. What happened… To me?”

“You don’t remember?”

“No… What happened?”

Gaius comes close to the bed and talks to me.

I honestly can’t remember what happened, no matter how hard I try. My head hurts, and I can’t collect my thoughts.

“…Lerunda, you healed his wounds.”

“Healed?”

“Yes. Those wounds were probably fatal, but there was a light, his wounds were healed, and then you collapsed.

After hearing this, I start to remember.

That’s right. That man that treats me well was very hurt, and I didn’t want him to be like that. And then… His wounds are gone? I don’t really understand.

“…If he’s alive… I’m glad.”

I’m really glad.

I don’t want a nice person to go away.

“You probably collapsed because you healed him.”

“…Did I do something?”

I wished, there was a light, and I collapsed. Honestly, I have no idea what happened.

Is it because I’m the miko? I don’t know if that’s true, but I start thinking about this again.

“Lerunda, they say you have magic energy.”

“Magic energy?”

They say the miko can use great magic, so I kind of thought I had it, but I was never taught how to use it, so I didn’t think I could do it.

“And they say you collapsed because healing those wounds used up all your magic energy…”

“I… See.”

I used up all my magic energy.

Magic.

So that’s why my head is spinning and my body feels weak.

This is what happens when you run out of magic energy.

But… I’m really glad he didn’t die.

“Lerunda, you shouldn’t do stuff like that too much.”

“…Why? Saving people…. Is good.”

“That’s true but… My father says you probably don’t have a lot of magic energy because you’re still a kid. He said using up all your magic caused you to collapse, but it can even kill you! So don’t push yourself too hard.”

Gaius is mad.

I see, I only collapsed, but this can kill me.

My head is throbbing and I feel weak because I pushed myself too hard.

But why is he mad?

“…But if I can help everyone… That’s good.”

Everyone is so nice and warm and I like them a lot, even though I haven’t been here for a long time.

I don’t want people I like so much to die.

“…And I probably… Won’t die.”

I think this probably won’t kill me. I managed to somehow survive all this time, and things even moved in a better direction.

So I probably won’t die, and even if I go through a bit of a hard time, I’m fine with it if it means these warm people I like so much get to live.

“That’s not the point!”

As I’m thinking that, Gaius gets mad again, and it scares me.

Why Gaius? There is no reason to be so mad.

“Lerunda… Why are you looking at me like you don’t know why I’m upset?”

Gaius looks confused. Is he not mad anymore? But why was he mad?

I have magic energy, so I can heal someone with magic, and even if I collapse a little, I won’t die so it’s fine.

“Yes… I don’t understand.”

“Ahh… Lerunda…”

“Yes…”

“Do you like us?”

“Yes.”

“What about this village?”

“Yes.”

“They were saying your magic activated because you didn’t want him to die.”

“That’s… What I was thinking.”

“Well… We think about you in the same way Lerunda.”

“Yes?”

I like everyone a lot. They’re warm, kind, and when I’m with them, I’m happy. I don’t want any of them to go away, and so I wished.

Those are the feelings inside of me. Does everyone feel the same?

“Lerunda, you talk like you’re sure you won’t die for some reason, but you can’t be sure. The next time you use that magic, you might really die.”

“…Yes.”

“Even if you don’t die, you’ll be unable to get up like you are right now. You probably don’t realize, but you look really pale.”

That’s true, I don’t know how I look. I keep listening to Gaius.

“Don’t you understand? We don’t want that to happen. Everyone was worried when you collapsed. You think it’s fine if you collapse as long as you heal someone else, but you should take better care of yourself. You need to realize that you’re very dear to all of us!”

Gaius is mad, but he isn’t scary.

He’s worried about me.

He says I’m dear to him.

“Imagine I went out to hunt with my father and came back hurt every time, but said it was alright. You wouldn’t like that, would you?”

“No…”

“That’s what it means when you say it’s alright.”

If Gaius did that, I would be worried, and would want him to stop. Ah, I see. He feels the same way. He thinks I’m dear to him, so he feels the same way. That’s why he’s mad.

It’s because I don’t take good care of myself.

I’ve never seen someone mad at me in that way before. No one has ever been so worried about me. No has ever said I was dear to them.

“Wait, Lerunda why are you crying? I’m sorry, I said too much! But everyone, including me, wants you to not push yourself too much because you’re important to all of us!!”

I’m crying, even though I don’t feel the tears, and this is nothing to be sad about.

“No, I’m happy.”

“Happy?”

“Yes. Happy.”

I’m happy. Being mad at me out of concern, and saying I’m dear to him… I’ve never been talked to in such a warm way before.

When my parents and the villagers got mad at me, it wasn’t in this warm way.

I’m… Happy.

Being mad like that really shows how dearly he thinks of me.

“Gaius… I’m dear… To you.”

“Y-yes.”

Gaius turns away in embarrassment, and his ears twitch.

“I’m happy… About that.”

I’m so happy, I start crying.

“I’m crying… Because I’m happy.”

“Being happy makes you cry?”

“Yes. You said… I’m dear. I’m happy.”

The tears won’t stop flowing.

No one has ever said that to me before. Maybe it’s also because I was never in danger like I was yesterday, but no one has ever been mad at me like this. Maybe if the old man was alive, he would get mad like this, but he isn’t, so there is no one in the village where I was born and raised that would be concerned about me like this. People not caring just felt natural to me.

“…Gaius… I like you… A lot.”

“Ou… Ooooou!?”

“I like mister Athos and everyone else a lot too.”

“Ah, that’s what you mean.”

Gaius seems a bit strange, but I continue.

“Thank you.”

I feel like I want to thank him.

“I understand… Why you are mad.”

“O-ou. That’s good. Then you won’t push yourself too hard?”

I can’t raise my arms, so Gaius wipes away my tears. Gaius is so nice.

“Yes. I won’t.”

Gaius smiles.

I’m feeling a little sleepy. Maybe it’s because I cried.

“Are you sleepy, Lerunda?”

“Yes, a little.”

“I’ll let you sleep then.”

“Thank… You.”

Gaius pats my head. As I look at Gaius’s smile, I hop into dreamland before I know it.

This miko should really get some training done if she wants to become more adept in Holy magic.
