This dragon called me miko. I didn’t introduce myself as the miko, but he calls me that without hesitating. That surprises me, but what surprises me the most is that giant body.
“…Miko?”
Says a surprised Mister Villa while still kneeling.
Now that I think about it, we haven’t told Mister Villa about me being the miko. He lives in a closed village, so he probably never even heard of miko.
“Miko, the one loved by god, the one cared for by god, the daughter of god, the child of god. There have been many names, but the general term used today is miko.”
“…Mister dragon, do you know a lot, about miko?”
I ask. He knew just by looking at me that I’m the miko, and he talks like he knows a lot about it. If he does know a lot, I want to know too.
“I know more about miko than people do, although it has been a while since I met one.”
Mister dragon has probably been alive for a long time. The old man in the village where I grew up and grandma said there are monsters that live for an incredibly long time.
“…I just kind of know I’m the miko, but I don’t know what I can do, and what god made me the miko. Do you know that?”
I ask. Maybe Mister dragon can tell things about me that I don’t know just by looking at me, and maybe he’ll tell me.
“Ah, I see. What god you ask? The sky god.”
“Sky god?”
“Yes. Also called the god of heavens, but still the same entity. The god who rules over all those that fly through the skies. I also have this feeling that you are a being I cannot ignore, so there is no mistaking it.”
“Really? You too Mister dragon?”
“Yes. I knew you were a miko when I looked at you from up here, but I knew right way which god is blessing you when you approached me.”
The god that rules over everyone that flies. So that sky god is the one watching over me? That makes sense.
The gryphons and Scifo can fly, and Freinet is a wind spirit and can make things float.
The winged people have wings, so they can fly too.
Everyone that’s friendly to me right from the start is related to the sky. Mister dragon has big wings too.
“…Is that why Riruha, Kamiha, and the other gryphons are my friends?”
“The gryphons? Yes, that is what started it. Surely they were drawn to you on an unconscious level, but that alone is not enough to make them stay with you all this time.”
“I see. That’s good.”
They’re not with me just because I’m the miko. I feel a little relieved. Mister dragon says that the gryphons met me because I’m the miko, but that’s not why they stayed with me.
“So, why did you call me?”
“I was simply curious because it has been a long time since I have seen a miko. I have no particular reason beyond that.”
Says Mister dragon casually. We were all trying to prepare ourselves for whatever was going to happen when we got here, so I’m glad that’s the only reason. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like Mister dragon has any intention of doing anything to us.
Now that I think about it, no one else is talking. What happened? I turn around, and see Gaius and the others, including the gryphons sitting on the ground, and it looks like they can’t get up.
Oh? I’m taken aback a little.
“Most would not remain calm while standing in front of me. We can also attribute this to you being the miko.”
“…I see,”
I’m not scared, but everyone else is afraid of this being. That’s how strong this monster is.
“If you’re scared, you can go down, it’s all right. I want to talk to Mister dragon.”
“L-Lerunda, we can’t just leave you here.”
“It’s all right, Mister dragon, isn’t going to do anything to me. You aren’t, right?”
Mister dragon isn’t scary, especially now that we’re talking. He just called me because he’s interested in the kind of being I am, and I think that’s all there is to it. He’s not thinking about hurting me or anything.
I don’t doubt this at all, so I’m relaxed. I’m sure I can get along with Mister dragon.
“Then how about I stay with Lerunda and everyone else goes down?”
“…W-what has appeared all of a sudden!?”
Freinet shows herself and talks, and Mister Villa is very surprised. Apparently she’s not as scared as everyone else.
“A spirit? Yes, you can rest easy knowing I have no intention of doing anything.”
After seeing Freinet will stay with me and hearing Mister dragon say this, Mister Oshashio says ‘t-then make sure you come back’, and leaves with the others. They’re going to wait for me to finish talking with Mister dragon not too far from here.
Mister dragon says Mister Villa can leave too, and he reluctantly does so.
