I write my name and things I like in the letter.
Mister Delaigal said his brother doesn’t mind if I’m not all polite, so I write a little more loosely.
From what I heard from Mister Delaigal, Mister Shuongalve usually speaks casually too.
He always speaks to everyone the same way. And Mister Delaigal says that the way he still manages to rule the country well makes him the ideal king.
Apparently some people are distant despite being siblings, but these two are very friendly with each other. They even praise each other and try to hide how embarrassed they feel about it.
Alice and I are slowly shortening the distance we had, and becoming friendlier. But compared to brothers that were always close, we’re still too far apart.
“Mister Delaigal, I have a twin sister, but we were always distant. Lately we’ve been getting closer, but I want to become even closer. What should I do about it?”
“Really? You mean the false miko of Fairytrof?”
“Yes. But to me she’s my dear sister.”
“I see. I think it’s nice for you two to be friendly. Fighting when you’re bound by blood is sad.”
Mister Delaigal puts his brother above anything else, and would most likely do anything for him. But he’s normally a calm man, and even though I’ve never met him, I imagine his older brother is the same.
That’s why I’m talking about Alice. I’m sure Mister Delaigal will tell me how he feels without lying.
And my intuition says it’s all right.
“I heard that happens a lot with royalty.”
“Yes, there’s plenty of it in our country. Fighting over inheritance happens a lot.”
“But it doesn’t look like you think about that sort of thing.”
“Of course. For me, no one else should be at the top but my brother. He underestimates himself too much. We choose to follow him because he is him, but he keeps saying I would be a better ruler.”
“Really?”
“Really. That’s how he is. Ah, but you should probably assume this sort of relationship isn’t normal. When this village turns into a country, you should expect fights over inheritance.”
“Yes.”
Mister Delaigal and Mister Shuongalve… Even Mister Delaigal says I shouldn’t take them as an example.
The Kingdom of Lunid will probably have a new king soon.
I hope there isn’t a fight, but I think it won’t be small if it happens.
But Mister Delaigal really does sound like he likes to talk about his brother.
“The position of miko is special, so you should watch out too. There could be a fight over who gets to be your husband.”
“Eh?”
“You’ve never thought about it? How old are you, miko?”
“I just turned thirteen.”
“Then there’s a good chance more people will start coming after that position. Plenty of people will want children with the blood of the miko in them.”
“…I see.”
“People will create their own expectations and imagine things. Like children of the miko having the same powers.”
“…The power of the miko probably doesn’t work like that, right?”
“Probably not. If the power of the miko could be passed down, the miko would probably not be so special.”
I think he has a point.
If people could inherit the power of the miko, there would probably be lots of miko.
The miko is a being that only appears in this world sometimes… That’s why it’s special.
…Marrying me…
That might actually have a great meaning.
I’m surrounded by nice people, so I never really thought about it.
But it’s true. I’m already thirteen, so in a few years, that will probably be something I have to think about.
I’ve never thought about it, but… That’s probably something the miko has to watch out for.
“I think you should be more cautious, miko. I’m glad you can let your guard down with me, but I’m the prince of Rezzed.”
“My intuition tells me I don’t have to be wary of you. And a bad person wouldn’t warn me like that.”
Mister Delaigal smiles, and says I have a point.
