My Twin Sister Was Taken as a Miko and I Was Thrown Away but I’m Probably the Miko – Chapter 405 – The girl and the king writing to each other – Part five

I keep exchanging letters with Mister Shuongalve. I haven’t met him, but I feel like we’re getting close just by exchanging letters like this, and that makes me happy.

Becoming friendly with someone really is nice.

Arguing, fighting… That’s all sad.

I’m glad it doesn’t have to be like that with Mister Shuongalve and his brother. I’m sure there are people I won’t see eye to eye with even if we talk, so I see it as a miracle when that doesn’t happen.

I’m still writing to Alice too. I checked with Mister Shuongalve first, and told her about the Kingdom of Rezzed.

That probably means telling the king of Migha, Mister Hicked too, but… I’m sure Mister Shuongalve and his brother were aware of that.

It’s always either Mister Delaigal or other people from Rezzed who bring letters, and relations between us have been advancing relatively calmly.

Of course, there are things I can’t say. I think we can trust them, and that they’re friendly, but… that doesn’t mean they’re definitely friends. Miss Lan says I need to always remember that.

“I hope they can fully become our friends.”

“I don’t know a lot about them, but wouldn’t that be hard?”

“I think so too. Stacy also had a hard time.”

Freinet and Wea respond to my whispers.

The spirits have a different sense of values than me. Wea used to be around humans in the past, so she probably knows more about this sort of thing than me.

…It would be wonderful if we could trust everyone we meet like they’re family, but that sort of thing isn’t easy, and our village and the country where they live have clear differences too. I guess differences can also come from the countries where people live.

I’ve never been to Rezzed, so there’s a lot I don’t know, but apparently there are a lot more people there than here. And since it’s a part of the Confederation of Saff, Saff as a whole has even more people.

It’s incredible to think that so many people are at Mister Shuongalve’s command.

Mister Delaigal says that the people of Rezzed would do anything Mister Shuongalve said. Maybe that’s how charming he is, that people will listen to him and not even think about it.

“You really like those two from Rezzed, don’t you?”

“I hope you can get along, but it’ll be trouble if you don’t.”

Freinet and Wea seem concerned that I like them, and the people of Rezzed.

It’s fun to be connected with people outside like this. But I can also imagine something happening that causes a fight, and turns it into a sad, tough problem.

“Yes, I know. If someone asked me who comes first for me, I’d say the people of this village. Of course, it’d be best to protect everyone, but there will be things I can’t do on my own. And I need to set my priorities straight for when it happens.”

I want to think of the world as big, fun, and happy, but things I don’t want to happen might happen. And I need to know what to do when they happen.

I’m the miko, so I’m sure an act from me could save someone. And I want to make sure I don’t miss that chance.

Freinet and Wea hear me, and laugh.

I’m sure they would’ve warned me if I didn’t think about this properly.

I feel like I always have people around me who give me advice and help me when it looks like I’ll make a mistake.

“But I want to do what I can to protect everyone within my reach. If Mister Shuongalve and his brother are in trouble, I’d want to help them too.

Of course, I’d want to be rewarded for it too. I know it’s not good to help unconditionally like that.”

But still, I want to help if I can.

A few days pass after this, and as I wait for another letter from Mister Shuongalve… Someone delivers it, but it’s not Mister Delaigal.

“Please! Will you lend your assistance to the Kingdom of Rezzed?”

Says someone from Rezzed, who looks really tense.

—The girl and the king writing to each other – Part five
