People also suggest lots of things for the flag.
I brought something too, and since Shinomi isn’t here, I brought what she came up with.
“I want the flag to be something that immediately shows this is our country. I only know a few country flags, but I want ours to be different. If they are too similar, others might complain, and it could lead to conflict.”
I don’t really know about country flags, but it’s true that it’s a country’s symbol, so it shouldn’t be the same as others’.
It would be bad if things got confusing. If we don’t make it clear that it’s different, it will cause problems for that other country. And for us too.
But then again, I’m a little scared of people doing something like that on purpose. Everyone around me is nice, but there are people out there that aren’t.
…As this place becomes a country, people around it will know we’re here, but we don’t know how they’ll interact with us.
I’m sure things won’t always go well, so we should think about what troubles we might face.
“We have to think about its composition. After all, we have so many proposals. Personally, I think it really should have something about Lerunda, but I want to hear from all of you.”
Everyone has different ideas of what’s important to them.
It’s a little embarrassing, but if people want things about me on it, it means they like me. That makes me happy.
I love everyone here too, so I want it to represent everyone.
“I think it’d be cool if it had a dragon like Mister Douroean.”
“I want spirits to be represented.”
“If we were to draw Lerunda… how about something like this?”
Everyone discusses it, and Gaius and I voice our opinions too. Gaius is also a little embarrassed about being represented in the country’s symbol.
“I only became a wolf because of you.”
“But this place exists because of you. If I didn’t meet you, we wouldn’t have thought to make a place where everyone can smile. And I’m sure everyone agrees. You’re the one who first talked about our dream. That’s why I think our flag should have you.”
A lot of things changed since that time we met, but a lot of things haven’t. This place began… When Gaius said he wanted to create a place like this. Then we made a vow, shared it with everyone, and they all said they would help.
Mister Shuongalve said I would become the representative and symbol of this place, but… I think Gaius would be perfect for that.
After all, the representative should be the first person that made a huge impact. For us, that’s Gaius.
A lot of people who came here after the fact don’t know why we wanted to make a place like this. We shared our goals with them, but we probably can’t share how it started.
And so, if this place is going to be a country, I think it would be good if Gaius was at the top.
…Would Gaius not like it? I think it would be natural.
I’d be happy and reassured if he was the one on top of the country. Would I trouble him if I said that?
I think about that as our eyes meet.
“What?”
“Hum, I really do want you on the flag.”
Is all I say.
I’m the one that wants him to be on top of this place, and that’s all. And I’m sure my words have a lot of influence, so I should talk to Gaius and Miss Lan. If I don’t, people around us might start acting on their own and pushing Gaius to that position.
I wouldn’t like that.
Gaius agreed to live in the castle too, but that doesn’t mean he wants to be at the top.
But I’m sure this place would be good if he was, and I like imagining it. After all, it’s Gaius.
Thinking about this gets me a little excited. I’ll talk to Miss Lan about it after we’re done with the flag.
