To Alice.
How are you doing? I’m still doing well.
We now have a name for the place where we live. I think Miss Lan and the others told Mister Hicked, but it’s Leruga Nymfluol.
Things have been changing a lot ever since the people of Rezzed arrived. It’s going to look a lot different to you compared to the last time you were here.
The most obvious change is the castle. I’m living here too, but it feels so big, that I don’t think I can relax. Maybe it will be more lively with more people.
Everyone’s excited, because now they’re moving from the castle to building the town around it.
It’s fun building these things ourselves, and it’s nice seeing the end result.
I’ll guide you around again the next time we meet. I can’t wait to see you again.
Lerunda.
I finish my letter to Alice, and leave it with someone.
I like exchanging letters with her. She usually tells me about things like what’s been happening around her, so I write about what’s been happening here.
I make sure to check with Miss Lan and the others if I’m not writing about things I’m not supposed to tell yet.
It’s not like Alice is going to do anything, but information being known can be enough to cause trouble.
It was completely different the last time Alice was here. I didn’t even realize things had changed this much in such a short amount of time. But the reality is it’s been changing like this all the time.
With the castle completed, I can see lots by looking down from my room.
My room is the highest in the castle. Miss Lan said that’s how it should be.
Gaius’ is nearby. I still think he’d be nice if he was the king, but I haven’t talked about that with the others. I want to talk about it with Miss Lan after really thinking about it.
“Pretty…”
I look down from my window, and that word escapes my mouth as I look at the wonderful scenery.
It’s a place surrounded by trees and full of nature, slowly turning into what can be called a town.
I can see wild monsters living in the forest far away. All sorts of things are visible when I’m this high up.
I’m used to riding the gryphons and using magic to float, and I see things from above. But it really feels different when I’m looking down from the castle.
I open the window, and the wind feels really nice.
◇ ◇ ◇
“…The miko’s power really is strange. You would think a big castle like this would be spotted right away, even by people far away.”
There’s a lot about mikos even I don’t know. It’s so mysterious.
Monsters tend to not get close because I’m here. And since I want this place to stay peaceful… It makes it hard for people to notice the castle.
Will no one notice unless I feel like inviting them? Or do they have to be really close?
I don’t think we’ll know that unless we start talking to more people from the outside.
I wonder what kind of people we’ll meet.
It’s exciting, thinking about meeting the kind of interesting people I’ve never met before.
I open the door and go out into the wide and empty hallway.
Castles usually have lots more people, but this one was just built, and this country doesn’t have that many people to begin with.
Us living in the castle are on our own. Normally people who live in castles have lots of people looking after them, but I want to look after myself.
I don’t think that’s going to change even as the country gets bigger. I’m sure a lot is going to change, but I don’t think that will be one of those things.
I knock on the door to Gaius’ room, but no one answers.
…Should I go in? I’m a little worried, because what if he collapsed in there? I hesitantly call out to him and open the door.
Gaius is laying on his bed by himself, and looks like he’s comfortably sleeping.
“Gaius.”
I call out to him a few times, but he’s not waking up. He must’ve been really sleepy.
“It’s morning.”
Eventually, he opens his eyes.
They meet mine, and he still looks sleepy. He’s kind of groggy, and it’s a little cute.
—The completion of the castle – Part one
