Gaius and I keep watching Miss Lan and Mister Nirushi. They might be talking in secret, so we don’t want to bother them.
Maybe it’s something serious. I really like both of them, so I want to know what it is.
“What are they talking about?”
“I’m a beast person, so I can hear a little from this distance, but… It sounds really personal, so I don’t think we should listen.”
“It’s amazing how good your ears are.”
“Especially after being influenced by you. I can hear even further away.”
“I see. I’m curious, but I guess we shouldn’t listen. Let’s go over there.”
“Yes.”
After that, we go where Gaius can’t hear them. He’s right, we shouldn’t be snooping.
We enter a room in the castle, and sit down to talk.
“Miss Lan and Mister Nirushi get along really well.”
“Yes. They were nothing like that at first.”
“Mister Nirushi was really wary of humans like us at first.”
I remember how he was back then.
Humans like us attacked his village, so he didn’t trust us. He didn’t see us as friends at all, and stayed away. But now… He’s really nice to me.
I care about him too. He always helps me when there’s a problem. He’s a lot friendlier with Miss Lan too. I really like seeing how friendly they are now.
We’ve all been living in the same place for a long time, but it’s not like we know everything about each other.
There’s a lot people might not know about others, even if they’re together. I want to know about people here, because I really like them, and I want them to know about me too. When Gaius asks something, I make sure to try to answer.
“It’s really wonderful how people can get friendlier like this, even when they don’t get along at first. I really like seeing it too!”
“Me too… It’s better this way. Then again, everyone has their own stuff going on, so we can’t force everyone to be friends.”
“Yes. There are times when people just can’t accept others. And that’s going to happen more with more people here. Sometimes things are solved through time. Back then, I didn’t think Miss Lan and Mister Nirushi would become so friendly.”
I didn’t, but now… Things really do change.
There are a few things that are absolutes to me, but who knows if they’ll stay that way.
Lots of things change slowly, even things I want to stay the same.
“It looked like they were talking about something serious. Are things okay?”
They’re friends, but I feel like if they disagree on something, neither wants to back down. But they talk it out and advance together. Like with Migha, and how Mister Nirushi didn’t accept us being involved with them… But Miss Lan talked to him.
“I think so… I think their relationship might change a little.”
“Really?”
That’s what it felt like to Gaius. He doesn’t sound worried, so it doesn’t seem like a problem, but…
“I hope it’s for the best. I’m sure they care about each other, so I don’t think it will go in a weird direction.”
Both care about the other, so it should be fine.
“I agree… But I don’t think Miss Lan will tell you about it so soon. And you shouldn’t question her either.”
“Yes, I’ll be careful. I’m sure she won’t like it if I ask her about something she doesn’t want to say.”
But maybe she’ll tell me eventually. I’m a little impatient, but I won’t ask.
But it’s kind of fun to watch and imagine that it’s this and that.
Maybe I’m wrong, but maybe…? I keep imagining it in my head like that.
