The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 109 – A sneakily hidden function!!

“Harold! Take off the eye-patch.”

I say to Harold as he walks forward.

“Ah, you’re right.”

Harold takes off the eye-patch and throws it back while looking straight at Lily.

Even though he’s not looking back, the eye-patch lands right in my hands.

“Master Rust, I know Mister Harold is in the army, but doesn’t he do clerical work?”

Whispers Ahri. She was waiting for him to be too far away to hear, but Kalin ruins this consideration by speaking loudly.

“Yes, accounting if I remember correctly. What, are you worried? He’s pretty good.”

“Lady Kalin, that is part of it, but didn’t he say this Lily is his subordinate? It doesn’t look like she does accounting.”

“Last night he told me that due to the confusion in the capital and shortage of personnel, he was recruited for a command position, so I guess that’s how she became his subordinate.”

I answer, and Kalin and Ahri peek at each other for some reason.

“It’s starting. Rust, if it comes to that, I’ll jump in just like I said I would.”

The awkwardness I felt for a second turns hazy as the battle starts.

“Of course, I won’t stop you. But I think it will be fine.”

I answer while watching the fight.

Lily unleashes a series of very fast sword strikes, and Harold deflects them with the sword in his hand.

He steps forward and slashes upwards. This strike lifts Lily’s body as if it was being scooped up, and Harold takes advantage of this very small opening to fire a magic bullet from a pistol sized magic gun.

Lily impressively cuts down the magic bullet with her great physical abilities.

The distance between them has increased.

Harold plunges his sword into the ground, pulls out one more magic pistol, and starts firing magic bullets with both hands.

However, this is the same Lily that stopped all those Potion Rabbits from getting near her. She cuts down every magic bullet before a single one can reach her.

In fact, she begins to walk towards Harold even as he showers her with magic bullets.

“Master Rust, isn’t this going badly?”

Asks Ahri.

“Yes, I think we might be getting there.”

I respond while watching the fight.

“So it really is… Oh?”

Ahri suddenly presses her monocle.

“What is it Ahri?”

“The world I see through my future sight has changed.”

Says Ahri just as magic elements begin to concentrate in Harold’s artificial eye very rapidly.

“Master Rust, what is that?”

Ahri asks with a full smile on her face.

“Ah… It’s just a little mechanism I put in Harold’s artificial eye. It’s finally activating.”

Harold’s movements suddenly begin to change.
