The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 135 – Cleaning up afterwards!!

I grab the bright red magic stone in front of me, and as if triggered by this, a flashing triangular button appears. It’s the same as the one I saw before, that shows something called 『Status』.

But now there are two of them. One in front of me, and one in front of Seilook.

This again… But let’s leave it for later.

I put the magic stone in my backpack, and release the wall of wind surrounding Taula, Ahri, and Roa.

The three run to me.

“Master Rust! Are you all right? What was that?”

Asks Ahri while looking at Seilook.

“I’m fine. You three look well too. I think that was Seilook helping me with primordial magic. Can you check the people infected by mushrooms?”

I ask Ahri and Roa while looking at the former mushroom people that were already near the entrance to this room. I can see some of them collapsed right next to the entrance.

I’m just relieved that there aren’t any casualties caused by them throwing themselves at the wall of wind.

Ahri and Roa look at each other.

“Understood, but when this is over, you are going to have to explain why you decided to jump out alone like that.”

“That was too reckless even for you. I was worried.”

“All right, I’ll be ready.”

I say with an awkward smile.

“And Taula…”

“I will look for clues regarding the shaman.”

“Yes, be careful. I’ll help later.”

I say as I take my eyes off Taula, who is investigating the room, and start retrieving scrolls. One of them is Rose’s scroll, which I activate again.

Rose’s vines appear again, and I see that three in particular are quite damaged at the tips.

The corrosive power of Rihalzam’s main body must have been great to damage Rose this much. Not letting Taula, Ahri, and Roa get close was the right call. I would’ve been in danger too if I didn’t have the bloody potion.

I apologize to Rose while looking at the tip of its vines.

“I’m sorry Rose, you ended up taking the brunt of the damage.”

Rose shakes its tattered vines, as a way of saying it’s fine.

“Will it be difficult to restore them? Should I prune them?”

Rose’s vines suddenly contract. I forgot that Rose doesn’t really like pruning.

I take out a specially made pair of scissors, a pot with culture fluid without much magic elements, and clean cloths.

Rose timidly puts its vines in the culture fluid, and I quickly cut off the tattered parts. I then immediately soak the cloths in the culture fluid and cover the cut ends with them.

Lastly, I use a 《Fixate》 scroll instead of bandages to fix the cloths in place.

“Done.”

Rose’s vines quickly retreat to their scroll.

I put the scroll away, half smiling and half feeling sorry.

And just as I finish tending to Rose, people around me start waking up.

Ahri and Roa are coming back too.

“Everyone’s parasitic mushrooms are gone.”

“Master Rust, we haven’t checked outside, but from what we can see here underground, it was a success! Nicely done. But some people were injured when they collapsed.”

“That’s good to hear. Let’s offer potions to the ones who were injured. But let’s wait until we check the condition of those outside before we can relax. And don’t forget that this was a combined effort. I even get the feeling that it would’ve failed if it weren’t for Seilook’s help.”

I pet Seilook, who is yawning on my shoulder.

Seilook caused some sort of phenomenon with primordial magic. I couldn’t read most of the words displayed, but judging by what I did understand, my assessment is correct.

“Rust, you saved this country. Don’t be afraid to be proud of that.”

Taula says as she returns. Apparently she heard me.

“Taula… I’m guessing you didn’t find anything.”

“Yes, unfortunately not. That means I will be leaving now. I’ll take the ones who have woken up with me.”

“Yes, then please guide them outside. I’ll go around treating the rest. Roa, please help me.”

Taula speaks to the people who have woken up, and they start moving.

Her position as a knight is pretty handy at a time like this.

I go around treating injured people using my remaining potion, with the help of Roa’s transparency power.
