“Taula, Kalin… Do you know what a player is?”
I ask.
Kalin lets go of Taula’s hand and turns my way.
“Why the sudden question? Players are the demons called 『Primordial Eight』, right? They come up in nursery rhymes too.”
Kalin then starts singing a song I don’t remember ever hearing, but she stops half-way through, seemingly realizing something. She’s pretty sharp.
“Did that half-transparent plate appear again? The one you said only you and Seilook can see? Where did it appear? Is it here now?”
She walks right in front of me and starts flailing her arms. Her eyes are sparkling with curiosity.
The whole thing coupled with her movements makes her look like a kid.
She comes closer and peeks at me from below. From my point of view, her face is right where the plate is so, she’s in the way.
I push her forehead to get her out of the way.
“Your face is right on it. I can’t read with you there.”
“Don’t push me. So, what’s written there?”
Kalin’s eyes cross when I tell her the half-transparent plate is right where she is. Taula on the other hand just looks confused.
“There’s parts I can’t read, but basically…”
I read out loud what I can.
“Quest, world announcement… I have no idea what those terms mean.”
Says Taula, looking even more confused.
“I think it’s telling you to find things that make Seilook grow bigger five more times. Seilook already got bigger twice.”
Says Kalin. I mostly agree.
“So Seilook needs to develop, but were the demons informed too…”
“I don’t think we need to worry too much about that. I think it’s clear at this point that there’s some connection to demons and the shaman, but if an attack comes, we just have to take them down! Right!?”
Kalin triumphantly pumps her fist in the air.
Taula looks at her, and hesitantly copies her.
Kalin’s face looks serious, but it feels like her eyes are laughing. I have a bad feeling about this.
“What, Kalin?”
“We have to look for other things to make Seilook grow, like the black cube in the mausoleum, right? And you can count on Princess Lily’s help, so what will you do?”
Kalin clearly looks like she’s enjoying herself.
I picture in my mind what’s about to come, and think about giving up on finding those black cubes.
