“How boorish. You should be more proud of how tasty your meat is. You are the tastiest being Unchan has ever tasted. The aftertaste alone will keep Unchan going for a few hundred years.”
I’m not letting her bite me again no matter how much she tries to praise me, so I silently press her to fulfill her part of the contract.
“Oh all right. A promise is a promise. What was your first question? What are 『points』!?”
The undead dragon looks surprised for some reason.
“I’m sorry. 『Points』 are a value used in the 『system』. When you do things, 『points』 accumulate, and you can use them in exchange for perks, right? Yes. And you can use the points held by Unchan to let the white dragon over there evolve too.
Eh? 『System』? You opened a system window when you formed a contract with that white dragon, correct? Yes yes, that half-transparent plate. You can’t open it by yourself!? Seriously… Could it be that you are descendants of 『NPC』? Were you not born with any skills?
Unchan is more about liberal arts, so I don’t know too much about it, but I’ll try to explain. 『NPC』 are to 『players』…”
The undead dragon goes on and on, and I do my beast to listen despite not understanding half of it.
But suddenly, a big jet-black arrow pops out of the midsection of the undead dragon. This very thick jet-black arrow sews the undead dragon to the ground.
“Kaha!”
The undead dragon lets out a pained gasp.
Seilook lets out an echoing cry of anger, and Princess Lily draws her sword and points it to the sky.
“Master Rust! Up there!”
The clouds around us disappeared without me noticing, and the laughter of what looks to be an enemy echoes through the now clear sky.
“Uhyahya. I finally managed to enter the cloud tomb field I have been looking for all these years, because you entered it, hero. Thank you hero, those clouds that camouflaged it were in the way. Let us have you die while we’re at it.”
The enemy looks like a giant bee and a human combined. It was its stinger that pierced the undead dragon.
As we talk, I can see a new one growing.
“C-contractor, give me your hand, quickly! Before this stinger saps away all of my points!”
As I get ready to fight, the undead dragon speaks to me with a pained voice.
I hesitate for a moment, but put out my left hand towards the undead dragon.
