The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 193 – Test!!

“That was close.”

“Dangerous.”

“Sorry you two.”

We’re up in the sky again. I finished the minimum amount of investigation I wanted just before the large group of monsters got to us, and we managed to safely escape on Seilook.

There were a few variant species capable of flight, but Roa dealt with them with her magic element spears.

I can see an endless amount of variant species crowding together down there. From afar, they look like a black sea.

“But thanks to you, I managed to get samples to study that thing. Thank you.”

“What do you think of that, Rust?”

“For now, nothing. We might as well call it Unknown for now.”

“Gyu?”

Seilook lets out a cry as we fix our positions and talk.

I think about what Seilook is telling me via our bond for a bit, before telling it to Roa and Taula, and presenting my idea too.

“Gyu!”

Seilook agrees.

I tell Roa and Taula to hang on tight, and do the same.

Seilook spreads its wings. Its pure white scales are so bright when I’m this close. A large amount of magic elements are released by the wings, and form a barrier.

This barrier keeps morphing, and turns into a thin cone shape.

“Is this the new dragon breath that blew away the follower of the demons in one shot!?”

Taula sounds impressed.

Yes. Seilook proposed that it fire a dragon breath into the crowd of variant species below us and reduce their numbers.

And I asked it to try making the aperture of the barrier of light thinner than last time and then fire.

Seilook opens its mouth wide. Light gathers from scales all over its body, and that brightness is fired.

The whirling light hits the ground, and it twists more violently than before.

The torrent of light violently carves the ground, leaving a big mark and blowing away anything on it.

There are no traces of the monsters that crowded against each other.

The torrent of light twists and assaults Unknown, as the twisting light hits the surface of its body.

The surface is being whittled, but at the same time it looks like that black something is sucking in the light.

“Did it have some effect?”

I whisper.

Seilook quickly stops its breath, and flaps its wings strongly, making us go higher suddenly.

There’s a ripple in Unknown’s body, and the very next moment, many black, thin and narrow needles are fired in all directions.

Seilook twists its body as we go up, weaving through the needles.

It somehow manages to avoid all the needles, and Seilook doesn’t waste time taking us away from here.

I only know one thing that absorbs light and that would be shadow or darkness
