The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 261 – Actor Reese’s condition

“『Activate』, 『Transcribe』, 『Display』.”

An active 『Transcribe』 scroll floats slowly around Actor Reese, reading her condition.

In the meantime, she is still staring at nothing with vacant eyes.

I stop the scroll, and check the information it read.

“This is…”

“What is it, Master Rust?”

Asks Kahelone, who heard my whisper. She sounds very concerned.

I hesitate to tell her directly, but after seeing and hearing her, I decide to be honest and tell Kahelone what I see.

“She is a little weak, but otherwise healthy. There is nothing wrong with her… Physically, that is.”

“Meaning the problem lies elsewhere?”

“Yes. I believe there is a high possibility that she is being mentally restrained.”

I say, as I feel a prickling sensation in my right hand and unconsciously grab it with my left hand.

There is no doubt that Actor Reese’s present condition was caused by a curse.

Strangely enough, the memories I inherited from the shaman say nothing about why the church of Araysla is so involved with curses.

But these memories do tell me that the shaman looked at the church of Araysla with great enmity.

“Actor Reese’s mental condition has been influenced by a curse. Where is her scripture, Actor Kahelone?”

That question is probably enough for the perceptive Kahelone. I’m thinking that book is related to Actor Reese’s mental bindings.

She slowly points to a desk near the bed. It’s just like Kahelone’s room. This is probably the furniture that is provided to everyone here.

“In the drawers to the right. The top one I think.”

Kahelone says as she goes to retrieve it, but I stop her.

“Hold on, that is dangerous. I’m sorry, but excuse me.”

I try to stifle the awkwardness of riffling through an unconscious person’s desk, and take off the glove in my right hand.

“Roa.”

“What?”

“Can I count on you for a bit?”

“Are you doing something crazy again? Ahh… All right. But I’m telling my sister when we get back.”

“That’s harsh.”

I look at Roa with gratitude and an awkward smile, before slowly opening the drawer.

I can tell immediately just by touching it. It’s the feeling of two curses interfering.

“Master Rust, your hand!”

Kahelone reacts with surprise to the black curses overflowing from my hand, as the interference causes it to swirl.

And then, it fades away.

It’s the second time I feel this way, but this time, I purposefully give myself to this feeling.

And just like when I was pierced by Taula’s sword, but this time slowly and out of my own free will, I fade inside my consciousness.
