The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 342 – Side Kalin – Part four

The woman puts her hands together sharply this time, and produces a rupturing sound.

Something’s coming again.

At first glance, I see nothing, but my gut feeling tells me a different story. Something’s there, and it’s not good.

I strain my eyes.

It’s a ball. I can somewhat tell it’s a ball because it’s distorting the atmosphere slightly. It’s a big one too, about the diameter of two people.

It’s faster than what came before too! I’m not going to be able to dodge.

I try striking at the ball with my sword to try to push it back, knowing it probably won’t work. I put my full strength behind it.

I feel something through the blade of my sword, a sort of mushy feeling. It’s like it has no form, but is still definitely something that’s there.

But unfortunately, my weight isn’t enough.

This might be bad.

Before I can block it, this something in the shape of a sphere captures me along with my sword.

And before I know it, I’m in a weird space.

I compose my posture, and quickly look around.

“Where am I…? I’m stepping exactly where I was before. That hole in the pavement is where I pierced my sword… But I don’t see the enemy, or that mountain of Hipopo brothers.”

It’s like a very long path. There are walls left and right, like a building has been unnaturally extended.

“That woman that was clapping her hands is probably one of those reincarnated people. And her divine protection or whatever is probably some sort of spatial manipulation. Although I have no idea how it’s structured and whatnot.”

I carry my sword on my shoulder and start touching the walls.

“I’m sure Rust would be all excited to start investigating this weird phenomenon if he was here, and he’d tell me the principles behind it and how it’s put together.”

I smile awkwardly as I think this, and hold my sword high. At times like these, this is faster than thinking too much.

“Hmph!”

I smack the sword against the wall as hard as I can.

A cracking sound echoes, and the wall just sort of crumbles.

It’s about as tough as any other wall, but the problem is…

There’s more wall beyond what I broke with my sword. At first I’m thinking this is actually a really thick wall, but my instincts tell me that’s not actually the case.

“I don’t think continuing to break this is the way to go.”

That’s just what my intuition tells me, I don’t actually have any logic to support that.

“Good grief. Maybe I can try running over there.”

It’s at times like these that it’s very obvious that I don’t focus on theories and logic like Rust. I solve everything physically, because I have the physical strength to back it up.

And so, I keep my head down and run in what should be the direction of the enemy.

◆◇

It looks like the scenery is flying backwards, but it’s actually not changing at all.

I’ve been running at full speed for hours, but there’s no sign that the sun will set.

Hm… Is this looping? This isn’t going to be easy, I see.

There have been a few times when I sensed something was off. And that feeling comes regularly, and in the same space.

I’ve been running at the same speed all the time so… Here.

I run until I reach the point where I felt something was off, and swing my sword as hard as I can.
