After I’m done eating, I put the knife and fork back on the tray and place it on the ground. The illuminating magic item shines a light on the cloth covering Ahri’s face.
“Have you noticed that my sister and I have special powers?”
“I figured you probably did, back when we first met and you were waiting to ambush me outside the camp. I assume Roa can see far away or see through things, and since you have a grasp on how strong things or people are, I assume your power is related to that.”
“Very good, that is mostly right. Roa is just like you said, she has both the power to see very far, and the power to see through things. And I have the power to see the future in a limited capacity.”
“I see, that sounds like a wonderful power. Having magic eyes is rare to begin with, but Roa has two, and you can see the future. It’s the sort of thing that seems limited to legends.”
I say while letting out an impressed sigh.
“My future sight is not such a big deal. It reacts to possible conflicts and lets me see a few seconds ahead. Like I said, it is limited.”
“No no, that in itself is great. Ah, but does that mean you know my fighting style?”
Ahri tilts her head, and I can feel she has a light smile on her face, even though it’s covered with a cloth.
I clear my throat.
“Nevermind that. Are you sure about this? Telling me so much about your magic eye? Especially about the conditions that activate it.”
I say to Ahri like I’m admonishing her.
“I made this decision based on your behavior here. To me, family is my sister, but also the people risking their lives alongside me to develop this land. You have helped us a lot, and I decided to ask you to listen to me based on the trust you have built.”
“…I understand.”
I put on a serious face and try to respond to her sentiment.
“But what I want to talk to you about is this.”
Ahri says while touching the cloth covering her face.
“Is it a magic item that serves as a seal?”
I ask based on the magic element reaction I can somewhat feel.
“…! Yes! You can see through everything Master Rust. There are only two magic items of this kind in the world, and you can tell what they are just by looking.”
“It really isn’t that impressive, I was half guessing. Do you want me to repair them?”
Ahri shakes her head.
“These magic items were created to stop our powers from going berserk, but they are gradually losing their effect.”
“Hou. So if you don’t want me to repair them, that means your powers are still growing. Understood. Let’s think about making two new magic items. But it will probably take some time.”
“Really!? Thank you. I swear I will repay you.”
Says Ahri while standing up and taking a knee.
“Please get up. Remember what you just said.”
“What did I say?”
“That we are all family, and we’re all in this together, risking our lives to develop this land. If you and Roa are family, I will help in any way I can.
Thank you for the meal, but I should get going. I should have a look at your cloth and Roa’s tomorrow.”
I say while going back to creating magic crystals.
