Seilook, start!
I give Seilook a signal through our bond, just like we discussed beforehand.
Seilook is slowly going around in circles in the sky, but then it lets out a loud cry, and comes down like it’s showing off.
Usually Seilook would fold its wings and descend with its head down, but not this time.
First, it’s head is held high. Its neck is stretched, and it flaps its wings slowly to touch the ground with the tip of its feet first.
Well, to people familiar with Seilook, it’s pretty clear it’s showing off, but people who aren’t familiar with it seem awe-stricken.
I can see the VIPs attending Princess Lily’s coronation ceremony looking up with wonder on their faces.
The coronation ceremony is already in full swing.
It’s happening in a square stage put together in the center of the courtyard, and on this stage are two chairs.
One has extravagant decorations, and the other is rugged and made of stone. The latter one doesn’t look at all comfortable.
Princess Lily is sitting on the extravagant chair, with nothing near her except the other chair.
But there is someone standing on each of the four corners of the stage, and one of them is Kalin.
Looking at her like this… Kalin has become pretty remarkable.
I’m off the stage with Ahri and Roa, standing in the back.
The VIPs that have been looking on with amazement on their faces for a while are positioned around the stage, and a little far from us. There are a lot of people here, almost packed shoulder to shoulder.
And then, Seilook finally touches down on the courtyard.
It lands right in front of the stage, in a way that it’s looking directly at Princess Lily. It then lets out another cry.
Princess Lily stands up, and slowly walks towards Seilook.
She’s wearing a black military uniform, but now she’s wearing a long, black cloak, that she wasn’t wearing in the anteroom.
She drags that cloak that is at least three times bigger than her as she walks. The tip of the cloak spreads widely, and covers the stage in black.
Princess Lily walks until she’s right in front of Seilook, and kneels. Two of the people standing in the corners walk towards her, one of them being Kalin.
Kalin stands behind Princess Lily and to her left, and undoes the cloak’s clasp on her left shoulder. The other person does the same on the other side, and the cloak falls on the stage like it’s covering it.
There’s some sort of meaning to this ceremony, but I wasn’t really interested, so I only heard half of it. And I can’t really ask Ahri now…
I peek over at her, but quickly face forward again. Ahri is always so composed, but even she’s trembling with emotion. She’s holding her injured hand, and her eyes are starting to become moist.
In the meantime, a third person approaches the cloak, rolls it up, and collects it. Kalin and the other person then carry the luxurious chair off stage.
It looks pretty heavy, but Kalin carries it like it’s nothing… Wait, Kalin, it’s tilting. Think about that other person! Couldn’t she just carry it alone…?
And then, the last person on stage, Bishop Attenborn, walks calmly towards Seilook.
He is holding a black cushion with a crown sitting on top of it, the same one left behind by King Kalzart.
As he stops right in front of Seilook, Kalin and the others return to their respective corners.
Seilook stretches its neck towards the cushion, and grabs the crown with its mouth.
It then casually puts it on Princess Lily’s head, who is still kneeling, and lets out its third loud cry.
Cheers explode from the audience.
No, Seilook, that’s too sloppy… Maybe having Seilook perform the coronation wasn’t a good idea.
The masters of ceremonies were the ones who really wanted the ceremony to be like this. Apparently this was the traditional ceremony when dragons still roamed this land. Kalin went along with it when she heard that, so that was a major reason why it was done like this.
Were dragons all as crude as this back then? Looking at Seilook, I kind of get the feeling they were.
Seilook then takes off, leaving me with my thoughts down here. Princess Lily, now Queen Lilienthal Kalzart, stands up and moves to the uncomfortable looking stone throne.
She stands in front of it with a strained expression on her face, and keeps that expression as she sits on the stone throne.
And that’s when the attendees all rush to form a line in front of the throne, to pledge allegiance one by one.
Thankfully, I have the big responsibility that is looking after Seilook, and I use it to sneakily walk back and leave.
