“We are leaving the territory of Man.”
To the south, there is a confederation with a few small countries crowded together.
Thankfully, Seilook flies high enough that we can fly past them without issue, but it would be quite a pain to cross this place on land.
The country of Sototo we visited before is mountainous, but compared to that humid place, the air is a lot drier here.
But what’s most noticeable is the difference in the height of their mountains.
“You can see a mountaintop there. Beyond that, is what is called 『edge of the skies』.”
Says Ahri while pointing to a large mountain range. One mountain stands taller than the rest, giving off a majestic feeling. That’s where we’re flying.
“It’s really big. Oh, and aren’t there going to be more flying monsters around here?”
I ask Ahri while looking at the shadows coming this way from diagonally forward.
“Definitely. I’m sorry I couldn’t help.”
At first I have no idea what Ahri is apologizing for, but then I realize that she’s talking about not having the future sight power.
“I’m sorry, that was insensitive. And I think you’re going to have the opportunity to change how useful or not you are.”
Ahri looks confused. I guess I was too vague.
“Ah, hum… I’m going to take down that enemy with 《Restrain》 scrolls, so can you take care of the others?”
“Yes, not one of them will touch you.”
Ahri grips her spear and does some sort of gesture with her other hand.
I also take out and activate scrolls, which revolve around Seilook.
And then, the enemy comes charging at us.
◆◇
It’s not even close. Ahri could have easily dealt with them on her own…
I feel like her skills are even more wonderful now that she’s lost her future sight magic eye.
Above all else, her senses for combat are just good anyway, and her natural instincts for life or death battles look to be blooming.
No, I don’t think that’s all. Is it that her future sight magic eye has been hindering her ability to get a good grasp on the situation in battle? I guess that makes sense, especially before she started wearing the magic item I made. Ahri used to see multiple visions of possible futures while fighting, and it was half forced on her.
Even as I think about this, Ahri thrusts back with her spear without so much as a peek.
The red light enveloping it stretches forward, goes over the area where my scrolls are hovering, and pierces an enemy that’s coming to attack.
That red light too. I thought about this when she showed me this skill, but it’s elastic, and brings with it a physical impact. It’s like the opposite of the purifying light…
The enemies that appeared to be endless are all taken out while I sit back and casually think.
Ahri’s face looks a lot more relaxed compared to how it was before this encounter.
“See? You’re more than helpful enough. I’m the one who did almost nothing, because you took them down one after the other.”
“…Thank you.”
I say it with a joking tone and Ahri responds with a slight smile.
That’s the smile I haven’t seen in a while. Probably not even once since King Kalzart was killed.
I hold back on asking my next question, because deep down I don’t want to put a cloud on that smile.
Is Ahri a descendant of players? Is what I was going to ask.
