“It’s done.”
I’m holding in the palm of my hand an assimilating medicine made from part of the Weakest Seventh Seat’s flesh.
It’s pretty much the same as the one I used when Rihalzam turned into a demon and we infiltrated his stronghold. The difference is that back then I used an extract of parasitic mushroom, and this time I’m using a piece of the demon himself.
That means the effect is definitely stronger.
“This way, we should be able to fool even the monsters closest to the demon.”
“You made something like this again in no time…”
“Well, it’s my second time making this. I’ve had some practice.”
“Ahh… Good grief. I can’t object to going back, can I? It’s not fair, Master Rust.”
Ahri complains while snatching away a drop of the assimilating medicine from my hand and drinking it.
After swallowing it, she looks up at me and emphasizes something again.
“Listen to me, Master Rust. I know I can’t convince you to not go back there, but if something even slightly unexpected happens, promise me you will leave and not do anything dangerous.”
“All right, I promise, Ahri. I swear on this medallion.”
I also drink assimilating medicine, and make a promise while taking out my alchemist medallion.
“Fufu, this feels nostalgic.”
“Gyuru?”
Seilook is confused by how Ahri’s attitude softened all of a sudden.
Now that I think about it, Seilook was unconscious when I first met Ahri and Roa.
“Seilook, can you wait here?”
“Gyururu.”
Seilook tells me through our bond that it will take us as close as possible.
I think about it, and decide to accept that offer. But just as I’m about to get back on top of Seilook…
Something’s off about Ahri.
She’s pressing her chest, and has a grave look on her face.
“Ahri, what’s wrong?”
I ask bluntly while trying to stay calm.
“My body is feeling hot all of a sudden. And it feels like something is welling up… Ah…”
“What is it!? A side effect of the assimilating medicine…”
I can feel myself turn pale, as I take out a 《Transcribe》 scroll.
“Side effect… I don’t think so. It appears I just acquired a new skill.”
Says Ahri, sounding puzzled herself while checking her own body.
