The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 428 – The silver man

Pure white skin and silver hair. A man that sort of looks like Taula descends to the surface of the water, and starts walking slowly.

“Is that you, Seilook?”

“Precisely, former contractor.”

He calmly bends his back like he’s greeting me, while still on the surface of the water.

“Seilook, tell me. Since when?”

I raise my hand and stop Eve from swinging down its giant sword, and ask Seilook a question.

“I was born a servant of the goddess Araysla, former contractor.”

“So you planned to betray me from the start?”

“No. You might not believe me, but I only fully understood the goddess Araysla’s intentions when I received all the points.”

Says Seilook, like it’s no big deal.

“I see… I’ll believe you.”

“Hou… Why is that?”

“Because Hipopo trusted you. So I’m guessing you were born innocent, and were slowly tainted by Araysla’s thoughts.”

“You talk like you know everything. Well, not that it really matters anymore. The role assigning system of this world that births demon kings has been reset. Now all we need is tribute to the magnificent goddess Araysla. Former contractor, you will also be sustenance.”

As soon as he finishes talking, the humanoid Seilook opens its hands, that were tightly closed.

That reveals giant dragon claws, that look like they’re breaking through his ten fingers.

Seilook then swings them at me from a distance, and their trails assault me like blades.

They’re crushed by Eve’s sword just as they’re about to reach me, but that was Seilook’s intention in the first place. Before I know it, Seilook is already near Eve’s chest, and Eve is in an awkward position due to having to protect me.

Seilook swings its claws all over the place, going up Eve and carving many wounds on its surface.

He climbs all the way up to the top of Eve, and opens his mouth widely.

And then, he fires a dragon breath.

But this one is unlike any other I’ve seen. It’s compressed into a thin line, but its power is massive. The compression makes it shine so brightly that it’s hard to look at it directly.

Eve is covered in wounds, but it manages to hold up its sword and block the super compressed dragon breath with its blade.

But the dragon breath slowly pushes forward, carving the sword and scattering light into the sea.

Even just those drops are enough to cause a steam explosion like the one that ended the First Seat of Delusion.

That heat boils from the sea all at once, and steam covers its surface.

Eventually, Seilook stops the dragon breath, because it can’t sustain it forever.

Eve took a lot of damage, but still maintains its paladin mode.

The red light that composes its blade is getting weaker, and many of the bamboo shoots that compose its body have been downed.

And then, the vines supporting me go up, and take me close to Eve.

We go past Eve, and I face Seilook.

“Seilook, I swore on this medallion that I would take responsibility for you.”

“What are you talking…”

Seilook looks at me quizzically, as I slowly hold up the alchemist medallion I took out.
