The frontier alchemist ~ I can’t go back to that job after you made my budget zero – Chapter 456 – Extra chapter – Birth of the Hipopo Brothers – 《Third world》

“I see. I’ve gathered a lot of data on what happens if they are increased in size too.”

I whisper, as I compare test results in a space I borrowed from the transmuted beast research department, here in the Alchemist Association.

“You’re still here, Master Rust?”

“Yes, sorry. I’ll lock up.”

“Don’t work too hard.”

Someone who works in the transmuted beast research department, and joined at the same time as me talks to me from the entrance. I helped this department before, so they’re letting me use their facilities.

I’m standing in front of a water tank, with Hipopos that I named the Hipopo series.

Hipopo was the first transmuted beast I transmuted by myself from beginning to end, so it’s great, but also has one flaw.

Its internal organs are pretty limited because of its eight legs.

This means that I need to be mindful of its diet, and not only do meticulous maintenance, but also regular large scale examinations.

“I was hoping to get clues on how to fix this from the Hipopo series, but…”

I haven’t really found anything so far, and I’ve made more Hipopo brothers than I can count with my hands.

Thankfully, they’re all healthy, and I have Rose and Aroma Vine to help me with the more delicate parts of looking after them, so I still have some room to experiment more.

“But I can already imagine Rose getting mad at me if I make too many. I feel like I’m so close to figuring something out though…”

I whisper to the large Hipopo brother in front of me.

It’s still not born yet, so it shouldn’t have sprouted a clear consciousness yet. And yet, it’s yawning loudly like it’s responding to me through the water tank.

“The part of that series of actions, and the record of the changes in the concentration of the magic element solution is… No, but then…”

Once I notice one thing, questions start popping into my head one after the other, and I keep verifying them.

I keep on investigating and transmuting, and before I know it…

“It’s done…”

On the plate in front of me, is the pellet shaped food exclusive to Hipopo that I completed after many twists and turns.

“Hey Master Rust, did you stay here all night?”

“Oh, is it morning already?”

“Hey hey, didn’t I tell you not to work too hard before I left?”

He asks, looking exasperated.

“Nevermind that, look at this. It’s done. All this time I thought that since the Hipopo series’ internal organs were limited, I had to give them food that didn’t work them too hard, but I was wrong.

Do you get it from this data? The still unborn Hipopo brother yawned and a lot of magic energy solution entered its lungs, but that burden is necessary to…”

I say while getting more and more heated.

Basically, the conclusion I’ve drawn from the Hipopo brothers’ data, is that I should mix into their food a tiny bit of the nutrients that are generally harmful to them.

My colleague jumps in to stop me. He’s nice, but also a little too quick to worry.

But in the end, the completion of these pellets should improve the lives of Hipopo and the Hipopo brothers quite a bit.
