I quickly take out a potion and pour it on my head.
My skin was smoldering and deep red, but it heals as the potion makes contact with my body.
I then take out more potions and splash them on Hipopo and Seilook, although they have tougher skin than a human like me. I’m kind of jealous because they barely took any damage.
I breathe a sigh of relief, and maintain the combined Fixate scrolls.
The meteorite was superheated due to friction with the atmosphere. I should leave it and the radiant heat fixated for a while just to be safe.
“I want to take it back as a present to Kalin if I can. There could be meteoric iron in there that Kalin can use to make new weapons and armor.”
I whisper while looking at the meteorite, still wrapped inside the hand created by the scrolls.
“Bumobumo.”
Hipopo calls out to me as I stare at the meteorite.
“Did you find something?”
I approach Hipopo, who is right where the Shaman was. Hipopo points with its nose, showing me what looks like the remains of many small dead bugs.
I carefully approach them and crouch, and inspect them while being careful not to touch them. I then activate a 《Transcribe》 scroll.
“Hm… I see. Interesting.”
Apparently what looked like the shaman’s body was actually just a large group of small bugs mimicking it.
“These are probably familiars too. Is this how he’s been evading Taula for this long?”
I look more closely, and see what looks like a ring that’s broken in half.
I see a magic crystal attached to this ring, but it’s not just a normal magic crystal.
Inside the transparent magic crystal there is what looks to me like a three-dimensional magic circle.
“This is incredible! How did they draw a magic circle inside a magic crystal? And it’s a magic circle I’ve never seen before.”
I’m so excited, I end up touching the ring, and unfortunately it breaks apart. Apparently it’s designed to collapse after use.
“Ah! What a shame…”
I’m sure this was the magic item that called forth that meteorite.
A three-dimensional magic circle is much more complex than the current flat magic circles, and unfortunately the details of this find disappeared in my hand.
Still, the concept itself is incredible. I start taking notes while the ideas I’m thinking of are still fresh in my mind, and when I’m done I retrieve the still fixated meteorite.
“Now let’s go meet up with the others. I’m sure they’re worried. And we still need to talk with Master Halhammer.”
I say while climbing on top of Hipopo.
“Bumo.”
Hipopo responds like it’s agreeing, and I tap its shoulder. We travel back while following the footprints, after having recovered Seilook and taking something else with me.
