International matters have been unstable for a while, and at the heart of it all, is the new great power whose strength has grown drastically in recent years, the Empire of Karanza.
This empire forced itself into the colonial policy of other great powers in another continent, and kicked up a competitive relationship. Things have been growing more tense ever since.
I’m feeling like the situation in this world is kind of like the lead up to the Great War in mine.
There was a revolution in the field of magic that was a lot like the industrial revolution too.
About that revolution, it dramatically changed the industrial structure of many countries, boosting production. That means there’s been more abundance in other countries, and this country lacks more and more.
The Kingdom of Minowa has been surviving through the support of leftovers from various countries that are sold as aid for low prices.
“There will be a coronation ceremony.”
The international situation deteriorating is fatal for Minowa.
The moment it stops getting surplus goods as a favor, it will be one step away from total collapse.
If war breaks out and it’s an all out war like the Great War, it’s over.
“There was news the other day that a successor was chosen, so they are going ahead with the coronation.”
At the heart of this international turmoil is the Empire of Karanza. And its opponent is another great power, the Kingdom of Ryuse.
And this coronation… Things have quieted down because the previous king died and the throne was empty, but there is going to be a coronation in the Kingdom of Ryuse, which until now had to let the Empire of Karanza do as it pleased.
This is bad.
So these great powers… What are they? I guess if I’m going to compare them to my old world, Karanza is the German Empire, and Ryuse is France.
This development is bound to have a big impact.
“Doesn’t it feel like things are stirring a bit?”
Says Reve with a serious voice in her office, as she faces me and Kanna.
We’re all in agreement here. Then again, so is the rest of the world.
“A bit. And the skirmish that could result from it could blow away our country. Then again, those are the worst ones.”
I said before that it would be over if there was an all out war, but it won’t necessarily go that far. It could end with a skirmish slowing down trade.
The road to Minowa isn’t at all paved. If the tense situation makes the world take a turn for the worse, fewer and fewer merchants will be willing to deliver supplies through an unprofitable route.
“However, there is little we can do. Still, I received an invitation to the coronation.”
“Ooh. So you weren’t ignored.”
“Just barely. I usually am. But a coronation is very important. They even invited people from Karanza.”
“…I see.”
Uwah, sounds like something’s happening there.
Maybe a small prelude.
“And so, let’s attend the coronation, the three of us.”
I guess?
Not going really isn’t an option. At the very least, someone with Kanna’s notoriety should go.
I have to go too. So it will be the three of us.
“Noa dealt with the monsters in the country, and we used the money we gained from them to strengthen the police. That means we can step out, so let’s go!”
Reve announces our attendance of the coronation in Ryuse.
“Understood.”
“I will follow you anywhere.”
Neither of us hesitates.
