With my evolution complete. I shed my skin and grew.
“You’re as cute as always. Fufufu, so healing.”

My owner Reve hasn’t noticed my evolution at all… Yes. I evolved, but my appearance is exactly the same.
Looking at myself in a mirror surprised me. I really didn’t change at all. It didn’t feel like I did, but I figured I did change a bit.
But I really am exactly the same.
“Kyuu.”
It makes sense that she hasn’t noticed.
“Urya uryarya.”
“Kyuu.”
I’m not really complaining, and I play around with Reve.
“Princess Reve.”
Kanna the beast girl enters the room.
“You cannot play with that snake forever. You have a lot of work to do.”
“Uu… Can’t I rest a little longer? I worked pretty hard.”
“I am well aware of that, but you have been on break for about three hours. It’s too much fooling around.”
“Eeh!? That long!? Sorry… Noa, I have to go back to work…”

I was here playing with Reve… But if she has to work, I can’t bother her.

She goes back to the office, and I go over to Kanna.

“Uu… So you take Noa from me and then take a break yourself?”
“I am working.”

Reve, the young girl who has a lot of work to do, is defeated by those words and meekly focuses on her job.
“Let’s go.”
Kanna takes me as we leave Reve’s office.
“(So? It looks like you evolved.)”
Kanna says to me after taking some distance from the office.
“(Eh? You can tell?)”
“(I notice some things from being with you so much.)”
“(…Ah, I see.)”
Wouldn’t that make it harder to notice small changes?
“(So what did you evolve into?)”
“(Baby snake.)”
“(…Never heard of it.)”
“(Too bad.)”
Well, it’s a new species. It makes sense that she doesn’t know.
“(How did you grow?)”
“(I received some skills. Ah, I got something called Magic Grounding, but doesn’t this mean that I’m capable of casting spells?)”
Guardian Barrier and Healing Tongue are exactly what they sound like.
Guardian Barrier lets me create a barrier, and Healing Tongue lets me heal with licks.
“(…! Magic Grounding? That’s a pretty nice skill.)”
“(Right?)”
When I learn magic and activate it, Magic Grounding will buff it. It’s basically a skill to boost abilities.
It doesn’t do anything on its own, but since it affects all magic, it’s a precious skill that will be stronger the harder I work.
“(I want to learn magic. Can you teach me?)”
“(Sure. It benefits me if you’re stronger. In fact, you’re one of the few bright lights in our country. So what’s your rank now?)”
“(E rank.)”
“(…E… E rank…)”
“(Wai…!? What’s with the obvious disappointment!? I’m just getting started!)”
“(Ah, I have high hopes… Let me have them.)”
“(Of course!)”
I nod strongly.
I’m not done yet. I’m going to be a proper dragon that supports this country.
By the way, we can talk because of Kanna’s skill. She has a skill that lets her talk to animals and monsters… But they don’t have the intelligence to have a conversation, so it was a useless dead skill.
But it means we can talk, so I’m grateful for it.
“(But if you want to learn magic, we need to go to the library. An intelligent being like you should be able to learn.)”
“(Understood.)”
And so, I head to the library in the royal castle with the one person that understands me.
