Walking in another world – Chapter 209 – Creation – Part three

“Hn? What are you doing?”

“Yes, I also want to know.”

I hear voices coming from above.

I open my eyes, and see Rurika and Leila peeking at me.

…Yesterday, or I guess before I fell asleep…

I was in tatters after using the Creation skill, and Hikari told me to go to sleep…

As I remember that, I notice someone’s weight on me.

I turn to look, and see Hikari holding on to me as she sleeps. It’s been a while… No, as much as I would love to take a break from reality, I can’t.

I try to get up, but then feel warmth on the other side. I move just my neck, and see Chris is sleeping close to me too.

I guess she felt it when I tried to get up, because she wakes up and groans.

She’s wearing her hood, but our eyes still meet, and I see her face gradually turning red. It’s because she’s so close…

She’s making me self-conscious, and making me feel like I’ve done something wrong, but I act like I’m calm and get up.

That’s when Hikari wakes up, and she rubs her eyes while looking around.

“Master, I’m hungry.”

Is what she has to say when our eyes meet.

Her backwards priorities actually make me feel better right now.

“Don’t go cook, explain.”

There’s not much to say, so I guess I’ll just explain what happened last night.

And so, with the backing of Hikari and Chris, we defeat Rurika and Leila. I was tired and just fell asleep… Don’t ask me what happened afterwards. How would I know?

Once I’m done giving everyone their meal, the first thing I want to do is see how effective the cure I made yesterday is.

I should probably only let them have it once I have a few more, but there’s no point in making more if they don’t work. I’m mostly worried about the ‘incomplete item’ tag.

“Do we have your blessing, Carl?”

After asking Leila about it, she told me we should explain it to Carl first. His twin sister’s petrification is less severe than the others’.

He doesn’t seem too sure at first, but agrees once Mia and Trisha throw their voices into the mix.

“Carla, this is medicine. Can you drink it?”

It’s not as bad as the others, but she’s still feeling really weak.

I can only imagine how scared she must be, with part of her body turned to stone, and knowing that it’s still advancing. The feeling that her body is slowly becoming immobile as she sees herself turn to stone. It must be terrifying.

That imploring look in her eyes tells the whole story.

Carl helps Carla sit up, and brings the cure to her mouth. It feels like he’s praying, as he slowly tilts the bottle.

I see her throat moving as she gulps, and I hear a sigh once she’s done drinking.

Was that Carl or Carla? In any case, there’s an immediate effect.

I was surprised by how quickly potions work too, until I got used to them. They work instantly like they’re turning back time, and that’s pretty much what’s happening here too.

Her gray skin turns back into its natural color, with a healthy complexion too.

“A-ah…”

Carla groans, as she fearfully opens and closes her hand. By using Appraisal, I can see the status 【petrification in progress】 has changed to 【no status effects】.

“Mia, can you cast Recovery?”

Apparently Recovery doesn’t do anything if it’s cast on someone with no status effects, so it’s sometimes used just to check. By the way, it doesn’t work on colds, so if it’s cast on someone with a cold, it doesn’t have any effect either.

“Recovery.”

Mia chants.

………………………………

…………………………

……………………

………………

…………

No reaction!

“T-thank you. Thank you.”

Carl starts crying while repeating those words over and over again.

Carla is also trying to say something, but her face twists like she’s in pain.

“You need to recover your strength first. I’ll go prepare a plain liquid soup. And don’t forget that you haven’t been moving your body all this time, so try to take it slow.”

And so, I make more soup and get to work on the other petrification cures.

I think it’ll be all right, but I’m still nervous. I’m still thinking about what happened after I used the Creation skill to make the petrification medicine.

“Master…”

“Are you all right?”

Ask two people who saw what I was like when it happened, but it should be fine if I make one at a time. And I think I built a resistance by the second time I made a full potion, because I suffered next to no backlash. Either that, or it was just because it wasn’t the first time.

I prepare everything, following the same procedure as yesterday, and I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but it feels like the people watching me are more nervous than me.

Watching them actually makes me feel less nervous, and I make five petrification cures without much issue.

Ahh… After I let out a big sigh, I hear similar noises around me.

This also raises my Creation skill to level eight. I’m pretty sure it was level seven before I started working on the full potions, and I only had twenty percent of the proficiency needed to level up.

Could it be that leveling up is why I didn’t suffer that recoil?

Glad he cured them but does he know them well enough to risk his life the way he did. Not sure how I feel about cooking still being his thing after all the more important things he’s doing

In his defense he didn’t know that was going to almost kill him.

Pretty sure that what he made is a “incomplete elixir” because he used a full potion as a base: a elixir supposedly cures all and heal all.
And that’s why he suffered a heavy backlash and maybe this directly impulsed his skill to lv8.
More interested on what left his body…
