Ruins. The first thing that comes to mind when I see them is a house. And it looks like a Japanese-style house from the outside.
But once we go inside, it looks a lot more like the typical construction in this world.
The exploration itself ends up being pretty plain. Then again, we’re only going around the surface and the first and second basement floors on this first day.
Just as Rizalie said, everything that could be taken, has been taken, so we don’t really find anything new. Actually, we do find something.
It’s a painting drawn on a wall. Of course, it’s not like we’re the first to find it, but something is hidden in it.
There are about twenty paintings drawn on walls in the first and second basement floors, and most are things I don’t really understand.
But I do see something I recognize, Altair in the Dragon Kingdom. The town seems a little different, but there’s no mistaking that castle shape.
I’m getting off topic.
Those paintings on the walls aren’t just drawings, there are characters too.
I think Chris is the only one who recognizes those characters, everyone else just sees them as part of the paintings.
And Chris herself can only recognize them because Morrigan told her about them. Apparently it’s an ancient language used by elves.
But it seems like there’s no meaning to those characters. They’re just characters carved into the walls.
“Oh? What is this?”
Chris is looking at the fourth painting with a lot of interest.
And where she’s looking… There doesn’t really seem to be anything.
“Chris? What do you see? This is a painting of an island, right?”
Asks Rurika, and Chris responds while tilting her head.
“Here. I think there is a character…”
Now we’re the ones tilting our heads.
Rurika is right, where Chris is pointing, there is a painting of an island. There are no characters.
Chris says the character is glowing faintly. I ask her what kind of character it is, and she says it’s ‘sh’ in that ancient language.
And there’s another character grabbing her attention, but I notice this one too.
On the top right of the painting, there is the character 3 carved. 3… That’s a symbol that doesn’t exist in this world, but it did in mine.
We go around all the rooms in the first and second floors, and find sixteen characters.
Among them are characters that are not only used in ancient elven language, but also in current language, and language used by beast people.
Chris can’t read all of it, so I note them down and decipher them.
With the assistance I have from being from another world, there’s nothing I can’t read.
“But could it be that you were able to see them because you’re an elf?”
Asks Rurika, but no one can answer.
We don’t suspect the pendant, because everyone held it, but no one else saw the characters.
“But is there a meaning to them?”
Asks Sera, and I have a theory.
I can’t say for sure yet, but I definitely saw numbers carved into those walls with the glowing characters.
They were from 2 to 24, and if we line them up following that order, we get words.
It’s not complete yet, but I think we’ll figure it out once we look through the third basement floor.
“Characters from Sora’s world… Are these ruins related to otherworlders?”
Asks Mia, and all I can say is probably.
But when were these ruins built? How long have they been here?
It looks like they’ve deteriorated over many years, but the interior has some sort of magic energy that left it in a very good state of preservation. Part of the surface is destroyed, but everything underground is still looking good.
“I thought we would stay in the ruins for days once we entered them, but it’s nice how easy it is to move in here.”
Rurika is right, this environment makes it very easy to move around.
In dungeons, to reach the next floor, we have to move from the entrance to the exit of every floor, which are far from each other, and that takes time.
But here, there’s only one staircase. We could go right to the third basement floor if we wanted to.
It feels less like ruins, and more like a house. I think they’re calling this ruins because of the size of one of the underground floors.
“But… I’ve heard that the others investigating have been staying in the ruins. Even though they could just go back and rest well.”
Sera, when researchers take interest in something, they dive in head first. Well, that’s just how I see it anyway.
It must be trouble for the adventurers accompanying them.
We eat, talk for a while, and decide to go to bed early.
At this rate, we should finish checking the paintings on the third basement floor tomorrow.
What do the glowing characters mean…
I’m kind of excited, before I fall asleep.
By the way, the characters we found today are…
□ you sh □ the pr □ f of □ end sh □ the pa th □ □ be □ en ed for you

Thanks for the treat.
Yeah another fun chapter. Looks like the ruins aren’t like the dungeons so a lot of stuff should be done on next chapter. Language from sora world this is interesting
It’s starting to get interesting!
