I come back to my senses when I notice the eyes of the demons are on me.
I guess I had a pretty bad look on my face, because the demons have all sorts of expressions on theirs that go from worry to suspicion.
This is no time to zone out. If I can’t use it, I just have to make it so I can use it.
My first option is to raise the level of MP Consumption Reduction, but it’s at level seven now. I’d probably be able to use it if I raised it to level ten, but I’m two skill points short.
Then I look for skills to increase the MP itself, but I don’t find anything that matches what I want.
Next, skills to convert HP or SP into MP… Convert? I see three listed.
HP Conversion, MP Conversion, and SP Conversion.
HP Conversion makes it so I use MP when I run out of HP, like it fills in for the amount I need but don’t have.
SP Conversion does the same, but using HP for SP. I’m a bit scared to take this one. It might be useful to prevent having my mind get foggy when I run out of MP or SP, but what I need right now is MP Conversion.
This means I can basically combine MP and SP, doubling the MP. Now I can use Time Stop.
NEW
MP Conversion
MP Conversion makes it so SP is used when I run out of MP. Ah, and I can turn it on and off at will.
I turn it on and attach the Time Stop effect to the god killing dagger. I also attach Absorption, and modify it so it uses the magic energy bursting out of the god killing dagger itself.
It feels less like attaching effects and more like using the Creation skill, but it’s done without any issues.
God killing weapon. Capable of piercing anything. Something pierced by this dagger will receive a time stopping effect.
Is what Appraisal says.
Will this work?
I use Earth Magic to write on the ground, and tell the demons the plan I heard from Ignis.
And of course, I erase it right after they read it. I do this because I figure Elizabeth might hear me if I say it out loud.
Next, I have to recover MP and SP. I lost HP when Sera hit me, but that’s been restored by this point. I drink a mana and a stamina potion, and use Magic Energy Detection to check Elizabeth’s body.
Where should I attack? I’m using this to see if there are any weak points to the possessor, and I see strong magic energy around the chest, near the heart.
“There?”
I check again just in case, and see the same thing.
I get up, with the mithril sword in my right hand, and the god killing dagger in the left. The demons see me, hold their weapons ready, and open the path for me a little.
Then I attack, just as planned, sending a demon, and then another flying not too hard. And once I’m no longer surrounded, I run towards Elizabeth.
‘Are you ready?’
I say yes to Ignis’ voice in my head, and throw knives at the demons attack Elizabeth to hold them back. And once I’m close enough, I block an attack from Ignis and push him back.
Then a fierce sword fight ensues. It’s my first time using Parallel Thinking to wield two blades, but I’m managing. And Ignis is also feeling threatened by the god killing dagger, so it feels like he’s more reluctant to attack.
It feels like he wants to tell me not to use this in what’s basically just acting, but I have to if we want to fool Elizabeth. And no, it’s not like I hold any grudges over being manipulated.
Still, it’s hard to overcome the difference in raw power, and after pushing forward temporarily, I’m once again being pushed back gradually.
The other demons come to support Ignis, but strangely, Elizabeth backs me up.
I peek at her and see her attacking demons with a bored expression on her face, but I can see big beads of sweat on her forehead.
At a glance it looks like she’s fighting like it’s no big deal, but time plus the special field made by Ou are sapping away her energy. That probably has to do with why she was provoking Eris earlier.
But even still, she skillfully swings the holy sword and blocks every attack from the demons.
Does she have experience using swords? She swings it so precisely, like a veteran warrior.
“Enough already. Take this!”
Elizabeth swings the holy sword, and white slashes fly away, tracing the trajectory of the swings.
They fly straight at the demons, and hit them directly. Some try to dodge, but the slashes follow them and change course the moment they dodge.
Only Ignis and Ou block them. Ou also blocks the one headed for the demon king with ease.
At first I think that if she can do that, she should’ve just done it from the start, but then Elizabeth kneels. That technique must take a lot out of her.
Ignis doesn’t let this chance get away. I also figure I should move in, but my eyes meet Elizabeth’s for a second, and stop me.
Then I move quickly, to get in the way of Ignis as he slashes at Elizabeth. He looks quizzical for a moment, but then looks behind me, and kicks me.
‘Fly to the right.’
I do as he says, and use the kick to fly to the right, before the sword is swung where I was. She was definitely trying to cut Ignis down, not caring that she’d cut me down too.
And because Ignis helped me, he’s slow to deal with her, so I throw the god killing dagger. Of course, it’s headed towards Ignis, but my target is the holy sword.
Just as the sword is about to catch Ignis, the god killing dagger hits it, almost as if the sword was protecting Ignis from it.
Sparks fly all over as the holy sword is repelled, pushing Elizabeth’s body along with it.
Ignis cuts at her again, but Elizabeth just barely makes it in time to use the holy sword as a shield. She manages to protect herself, but the impact sends her flying back.
Meanwhile I use Transfer to get behind her, and swing the mithril sword in my left hand.
“I knew you were up to something. But don’t think this is enough to…!”
My sword clashes with hers, and the mithril sword breaks. After breaking the mithril, the holy sword comes right at me, but this time Ignis blocks it. I put up a shield too, but it’s not used.
And then, I use Transfer to pull the god killing dagger to me, and this time, stab the now defenseless Elizabeth in the chest.
