Walking in another world – Chapter 358 – Recovery Lv2

One method I can try pops into my mind.

Normally this would just end with the same effect being activated twice, but what if I use them at the exact same time?

Up until now, when I used Parallel Thinking, it’s either been to use two different spells, or the same spell on different targets. But what if I use the same spell on the same target, at the exact same time?

I flick Windsor’s weapon away to create an opening, get near him, and chant my spell.

“Recovery!”

I feel like it had an effect, and sure enough, once I look up, I see the light is back in his eyes.

“Where…”

He whispers, but just as I’m about to ask if he’s back to normal, I notice something isn’t right.

The effect lasts longer than before, but his expression falls again.

And when I cast Appraisal, it shows me the ‘puppet’ status again.

‘What are you doing? Bring him down quickly.’

A voice echoes inside my head. This is… Ignis’?

‘I’m trying to remove the puppet status effect.’

‘…It’s a waste of time. If you have time to do that, bring him down and go support Ou and the others.’

Ignis’ cold way of speaking kind of annoys me.

‘Isn’t he one of yours!?’

‘And? We all have the same goals. If I get in their way, don’t hesitate to kill me.’

I don’t have anything to say to that.

Goals… Protect the demon king and kill the goddess. So he’s willing to give his life to that?

But… I guess I’m not close to the demon in front of me. I don’t even know Windsor.

I wouldn’t have even known his name if I didn’t cast Appraisal.

But at the same time, I can’t abandon someone standing by my side, fighting for the same goal.

So even though every second counts…

I start thinking again. Using the same spell twice at the same time did have an effect, but the result is what’s in front of me.

I keep thinking as hard as I can while dealing with Windsor’s attacks.

What if I could combine magic too, like when I created the full potion? Alchemy probably won’t do, but what about Creation?

But I’m pretty sure Creation is just about creating equipment and magic items.

So, is there a skill that lets me make magic?

…Yes. It doesn’t let me create new magic, but it does let me combine spells.

NEW

Combine Lv1

The effect is simple, it combines multiple things. And it doesn’t really seem to have any conditions attached.

But now that I’ve learned it, I realize something. Does combining multiple things mean it lets me combine the same thing multiple times? Good, it does.

But when it comes to magic, I can’t use it without also using Parallel Thinking.

I cast Recovery twice, but hold them instead of releasing them. Then I combine them with the Combine skill.

A new spell pops up in my head, and I use it on Windsor.

“Recovery!”

Hm, it’s still called Recovery. But the result is very different.

Before, the puppet effect came back right away, but it’s been over a minute, and it still hasn’t come back.

And actually, the name of the new spell I learned, or I guess made, is Recovery Lv2.

Lv2? I think I’ve seen that before… But let’s leave that aside for now.

Let’s use it on the other demons with that status effect.

They’re spread all over, so it would take too long to go to each one individually. So…

I attach the Recovery Lv2 effect on non-lethal rubber bullets, and start firing.

Since they’re far away, I use Transfer at the same time as I fire them, to make it so they hit right after.

Once the bullets hit, Recovery is activated, and the status effects are removed.

“What are you doing!?”

Of course, Elizabeth notices what I’m doing, and turns her attacks to me.

But the other demons, starting with Ignis, stop her. Actually, they’re using the fact that she’s distracted to attack.

And since she can’t ignore that either, she’s forced to deal with them.

I try to use that opportunity to heal the downed demons, but more than half have drawn their last breath.

Among them, some were killed by the ones with the puppet status.

I clench my fists. I don’t have time to lament, I have things to do.

I attach the Recovery Lv2 effect on more bullets to counter the puppet status, and drink a mana and a stamina potion.

That spell is effective, but it comes with MP consumption to match. It feels like a high level spell, so I guess it makes sense. And apparently I can’t use regular Recovery anymore.

I should probably think before using Combine going forward.

But first, we need to finish this fight.

The demons afflicted with the puppet status and the hurt demons are now back to the front line, and Elizabeth is fully on the defensive.

And then…

“We are ready. Let us finish this.”

Ou declares loudly, and the magic items on the four corners of the room are activated.

Combining healing magic worked very well I wonder if offensive magic such as fire might create a firestorm if combined or something like that
