There’s a clanking noise. It’s Chris’ staff hitting the floor.
She hears it with a blank look on her face, and slowly turns to Argo and the others… To be more precise, to the elf with the slave mask.
She walks over there with weak steps and reaches towards the mask on the elf restricted by an item, but stops.
Ignis said before that forcibly removing it could deal a lot of damage to someone’s spirit, and leave them heartbroken.
Chris then turns over to me with pleading eyes.
I already tried using Recovery, even though I was pretty sure it wouldn’t work, and sure enough, the mask stayed on.
“Sorry, but I can’t do it.”
Recovery really has no effect on slave masks.
If Mia was… I’m sure all the others are thinking the same thing. It’s best if we look for someone who can remove it.
Miharu’s class was Saint. Could she do it?
“Sora, do you know this person?”
Asks Argo, who was quietly watching our reactions.
“…Yes. Well, I’ve never actually met her before.”
I turn to Chris, Rurika, and Sera, because I’m not sure if I should keep talking.
“…If she is the person we know… She’s the one who raised us.”
Rurika explains instead of me.
She looked after them in an orphanage in the Republic of Eldo. And after the war, she went missing after leaving one day and never returning.
“So that’s…”
Argo and the others are at a loss for words.
“What are you guys going to do now, Argo?”
“What about you, Sora?”
“We’re going to stick to the original plan and look for the person we know that’s being held captive in this castle.”
“I see… We want to help too, but…”
Argo looks at the masked woman… Morrigan, and Karina.
Yes, it would be hard to carry them around. Morrigan is unconscious, and Karina is far from having recovered too.
“It’s all right. In fact, we’ll be safer if you look after them. What about you three? You can stay here too.”
“…We are going. Argo, please look after grandma Morrigan.”
Says Chris, and Argo and his party meekly nod.
“Are you sure?”
Asks Naoto with a concerned tone, but Chris nods.
Argo and his party are moving to one of the rooms, to look after the elves there. And the beast person moves out to go call for reinforcements.
At first I’m worried about him going out alone, but he says he excels at erasing his presence.
We walk together until the path splits.
“This path will take us to where the holy sword was.”
I feel like I can sense some sort of holy energy, so we’re going there first.
“Master, wait. Is someone there?”
Says Hikari, and we all stop.
I do feel like there are multiple reactions, but I don’t see anything.
I use both Presence Detection and Magic Energy Detection, but… I feel like I’m getting a stronger reaction from Magic Energy Detection.
“What’s up ahead?”
“I think it’s just a path with nothing of note… But I just followed them through here. I don’t really remember it too well. Sorry.”
Sounds like he really doesn’t know, and is very apologetic about it.
I think the shields should stop any sneak attack, but still…
“Let’s send a decoy out first.”
I summon a golem. I completely forgot about them.
I cast a shield on everyone, including the golem, and drink a mana potion.
And then, the golem follows orders and moves forward, and after a while, it’s like it’s walking into a hornet’s nest.
Or rather, it’s bombarded by magic one after the other.
“…It might be a trap.”
I think Rurika’s right. So that’s why Magic energy Detection gave me a stronger reaction.
“Were they all activated there?”
I use Magic Energy Detection again, and I feel like the reactions are weaker than before.
I bring the golem back, and it’s not attacked again.”
“Maybe it’s fine now.”
I infuse the golem with magic energy to repair it, cast a shield, and send it out again.
And this time, there’s no magic, and the golem advances without being attacked, so we keep watching it while we follow it from a distance.
Nothing really happens, and we see a big door in the distance.
And in front of said door, are people wearing robes and holding staves. Sorcerers.
“We were alerted of intruders… And here is a hero. What brings you here? Did you finish off the demon king? And…”
One of them says.
I kind of remember that voice. It’s someone who was with the king when I was summoned.
“Is that the otherworlder who was summoned that time too? He’s alive?”
I guess they remember me.
“Anyway, the king has ordered us to guard this door to the death. If you are a hero, you should go deal with the demons and beast… Wait, is that a beast person? And is that… An elf?”
As the sorcerer talks, they start noticing the other people with us, and laughs with their eyes wide open.
“Haha, so you brought us fresh sacrifices, hero. Bring us the elf! Or… Do you all want to die together!?”
And as they spew out some nonsensical words, the sorcerers start attacking.
