I order the golem to act as a shield against their magic, and we start preparing our counterattack after moving behind it.
“Master, above!”
Yells Hikari.
I look up as she says, and see a group clad in black jumping down from there.
I did see a passage up there on the ceiling, but I was pretty sure there was no one there.
Hikari and the others throw weapons at them, but the black clad group repels them all.
But those were infused with magic, so there are explosions and screams all over the place.
The sorcerers are surprised, and so is Naoto.
But some of the black clad enemies manage to get through that hell, and attack us one after the other.
And as we fight them, the sorcerers don’t stop attacking. They’re trying to eliminate us, and don’t care about taking their allies out too.
“What do we do with the elf?”
“Don’t care. She just has to still be breathing.”
“What about the hero?”
“We don’t need him anymore.”
I hear this unsettling stuff here and there, but I need to focus on taking these people out one at a time.
I summon the dog type golem, and have it guard Chris so I can move out.
I fire magic at the sorcerers while also attacking the black clad ones.
I figured they’d be good, since they’re stationed in such an important place, but they’re a few degrees down in terms of skill compared to the ones I fought in the demon king’s castle.
And once Chris starts supporting us with her spirit magic, the momentum turns drastically in our favor.
One goes down, then another.
It’s because of Hikari. She’s going around approaching them through their blind spots and cutting them with her dagger with the paralysis effect.
The effect isn’t actually very good, probably because they have resistance to paralysis, but it still works to some extent.
And once all the black clad enemies go down, we turn to the sorcerers.
The golem is pretty messed up after taking almost all of their attacks, but the destroyed portions regenerate immediately after I infuse it with magic energy again.
I see the sorcerers turn pale when they see this, but they keep attacking.
“Hikari, use this to restrain the others.”
I use Creation to make copies of the magic item used to restrain Morrigan, and hand them over to Hikari so she can restrain the black clad ones that are still breathing.
They’re enemies, but I don’t want to kill them unless I have to. They might be victims too, in a way.
Now, the sorcerers. The fierce magic attacks start settling down as time passes, because one after another, they become unable to use them.
They work for the castle, so I’m sure many of them are great, but the golem I made is terrible for them. Although I feel like they would be able to destroy it if they had a little more firepower.
“How can that golem take so much punishment?”
Asks Naoto, sounding puzzled, and I give him a simple explanation.
The golem has a function to absorb magic energy, to be able to work for a long time. It’s been absorbing magic energy while taking those attacks, and it regenerates every time it’s attacked.
That’s why we focused on the black clad ones first.
“It’s sort of invincible.”
Naoto looks flabbergasted, but it’s not.
This time it was within its acceptable limit, but if it absorbs more magic energy than it can handle, it will explode.
It wouldn’t be able to handle Ignis’ magic attacks, and I’m not sure it would stand Chris’ spirit magic if she got serious either. The Absorption level isn’t that high yet.
Conversely, these sorcerers might be great here in this kingdom, but they haven’t reached the level where they can destroy it.
There’s also the fact that since Hikari is throwing magic infused knives at them, they’ve had to split into offensive and defensive groups.
I also think that there’s a possibility that a lot of people in this country close to the king use the ones who inherited the blood of otherworlders, so their levels are low across the board.
As I think about that, the golem reaches the sorcerers.
They don’t have the power left to fire straight away, and the golem’s blows renders them unconscious.
I ordered it not to kill them. They should pay for their crimes. I’m not doing that because I’m soft or anything.
After seeing that the last one, the one that was talking smugly earlier, is down, we approach the golem, and restrain the sorcerers.

Errors?
so they’re levels are low across the board. -> so their levels are low across the board.
and the golem’s blows rends them unconscious. -> and the golem’s blows render them unconscious.
Thanks.
