Walking in another world – Chapter 398 – Battle in the capital – Part one

Just as Ghido predicted, the fortress city has fallen.

This news is shaking people who live in the capital, but the announcement of the beast king has helped calm things down. The fact that he introduced himself as End, the king of the Beast Kingdom of Lath contributed a lot to it. It also had an effect on making it so a lot of adventurers decided to join the defense of the capital.

I think a lot of people in this city have a poor impression of the knights. Actually, I hear people say that regular knights aren’t the problem, but the ones that come from nobility have a bad name.

“So King End, how are we going to fight?”

“Blow them away head on, of course!”

He answers proudly to someone I think is a close aide.

Beast people are roused by that, but the guildmaster and other people who came from the adventurer guild are perplexed. Ah, Ryuryu is also facing the sky with her hand on her forehead.

“Don’t say silly things and be serious. If you want to charge from the front, do it yourself. Little brat, any plans?”

Ghido speaks sharply, as he turns to Ryuryu for her thoughts.

I’m surprised to hear those words come out of his mouth.

And I guess it shows on my face, because he tells me it’s upsetting.

“Yes. We should use the capital’s walls to meet the monsters. We can ignore opinions that don’t have any interest like a frontal assault. The walls are pretty sturdy, so we can use them to fight.

We have elves who are good at magic, so we should attack from a distance first, and then mop up the rest.”

“Hm, are you sure?”

Asks the guildmaster after Ryuryu is done.”

“No problem. Mister Ghido and the others are participating too, right?”

“Yes. If this place is destroyed, I won’t get to have fun later.”

Ghido smiles, but it probably comes across more like a wicked smile. I can even see the guildmaster and the others twitching.

It makes sense for them to be so wary, considering the damage they suffered at the hands of demons, but I’m pretty sure Ghido has no interest in doing anything to the capital, and he’s talking about the captive king and nobles.

Eventually, everyone’s positions are settled, and we start preparing.

As for us, myself, Hikari, Chris, and Sera, will be taking part. Rurika will stay with Morrigan, and Naoto with Miharu. And Karina is also going to sit this one out, because she still isn’t feeling great.

“Big sister Sera, look after master.”

“Yes, and you look after Chris.”

This time, Hikari will be guarding Chris on the wall. The fact that there are somewhat big monsters that would put her dagger at a disadvantage played a part in that decision.

“Ah, are you coming here too, Argo?”

As we make our way towards the group that will be mopping up, we see Argo with his party and End.

“And, hum, beast king?”

“Hahaha, it’s End. So you’re also here, Sora? And you too, young lady.”

The beast king smiles boldly, but he’s kind of the one in charge of this part of the operation, so I didn’t think he’d be coming to the front line.

I thought for sure Ryuryu would stop him.

“Hmph, it’s time to show what I’m made of. Once this is over, I’d love a match.”

He says as he leaves with a loud laugh.

This man really is free and wild.

“Ah. I have a question, Argo. Is now okay?”

“Hn? Do you want something with me?”

“Hum, I wanted to ask if Morrigan was the elf you fell in love with at first sight.”

“…No doubt about it, it’s her.”

Apparently he went to see her before coming here, just as we were leaving.

“So what do you intend to do?”

Ah, Sera just charged right in and asked it. I guess it makes sense, she pretty much raised her.

But I don’t think that got the point across.

“Hum, what do you mean?”

Argo asks, looking perplexed, and this time Sera turns to me.

I think she’s hesitant to talk about Transfer.

“We are planning to take her somewhere she can rest after this battle. Chris and Rurika also want that. That means you’ll have to say goodbye, so I think Sera is asking if you’re going with them.”

“…Can I?”

“Well, that depends on them. Ah, and we need Ghido’s permission too.”

We’re talking about the faraway town. Although she’s probably going back to the republic when she’s feeling better.

But what is she going to do from now on? And what about Eris? I think the same could be asked of everyone in the faraway town.

“Well, let’s talk about that after we get through this. We don’t have much time left, so we need to focus or we’ll die.”

Argo can’t seem to find an answer, so Guilford responds.

I think he has a point.

I check Map, and see a lot of monsters. And they’re advancing faster than I thought.

Then again, a lot happened after the barrier was destroyed. The king was judged, Morrigan’s slave mask was removed… I guess it all took more time than I thought.

Eventually, we see smoke on the horizon, and hear the earth rumble.

The noise coming from this group stops, as everyone turns and faces the monsters.
