I’m going to the adventurer guild with the same group as always.
Rurika wasn’t a part of the defensive line against the monsters, but she’s coming along because she hasn’t been in the capital’s adventurer guild in a while.
That means that Karina, Naoto, and Miharu are the ones looking after Morrigan.
Argo also wanted to stay, but he’s already in the adventurer guild because Guilford and the others dragged him there.
Compared to the last time I was here… The busy atmosphere is still here, probably because of all the stuff that happened.
But there aren’t as many odd job quests compared to before. The board used to be packed with them, but now I can even see the board behind them.
“Rurika and Chris! And… Eh? Sora?”
We walk to the reception desk, and meet a guild employee.
It’s Mikaru, the one who took care of my registration as an adventurer.
She first calls out to Rurika and Chris with a nostalgic tone, but then she’s surprised to see me.
And her loud voice attracts attention from around us.
“Sora?”
“I’ve heard that name.”
“It’s the delivery guy.”
“Wasn’t he dead?”
“Who’s that? Is he famous?”
I hear all sorts of voices.
I recognize some faces too, but also see some I don’t. Honestly, I don’t really remember.
Is my memory just bad? I was struggling just to make a living when I was here in the capital, so while I remember people like Siphon and Argo who were always hitting on the receptionists and made a strong impression, I didn’t really have the time to remember anything else.
“Hum, so what brings you here today?”
“We are here to deliver monsters we retrieved into item bags yesterday. Where should we put them?”
I say, and Mikaru runs over to the reception desk to speak to an older woman, and comes back.
“Follow me.”
She then takes us to a storage room.
I accepted a lot of delivery quests, but this time we’re going even deeper. I ask her where we’re going and she says it’s where they keep monster materials.
I end up looking all over, because I’ve never been here before, and then suddenly turn my eyes to Mikaru. I know she’s been peeking my way.
I’m sure she has a lot to ask, like why am I alive, but it’s difficult to explain. Actually, now that the royalty’s… That the misdeeds of the Kingdom of Elesya have been exposed, it might be a good time to say it.
We reach the storage, and I go in by myself, before following another employee’s instructions and taking out the monsters.
And it’s actually so much that I can’t take everything out.
“T-there’s still more?”
The surprised employee asks, but I still have monsters in the Item Box. I’m sure this is all because the large monsters are taking up too much room.
Someone who appears to be a higher ranking employee shows up, and when I say that my item bag is a good one that won’t let the monsters spoil too quickly, I’m told I can come back tomorrow.
An employee rushes out, seemingly to go put out an emergency quest for adventurers that can take apart monsters, but apparently that’s not going to be easy because most of them are already working outside the city.
“Looks like another all-nighter…”
Whispers one of the employees that’s working on taking monsters apart, and I feel like the mood here is heavy.
“Ah… I can come back some other time. My item bag is really good.”
I say without thinking, but it’s not my fault. I think.
We settle on me coming back here in three days.
Then I tell Chris and the others what happened and apologize, but they’re gracious enough to forgive me.
Actually, they accepted a quest to go outside the city to take monsters apart, and are raring to go.
“Ah, see, money is important…”
“Yes, exactly.”
“You can never have too much.”
Chris, Sera, and Rurika all give me their honest thoughts.
And Hikari says she’s going to work hard for meat.
Then it’s fine I guess. In fact, we should probably wait until Morrigan is feeling a little better before we take her to the faraway town with Transfer anyway.
Afterwards, the four who accepted that quest leave, and I explain what happened to Mikaru.
At first I’m not sure how to do it, but Mikaru is looking at me with such a sincere expression, that I tell her everything about coming from another world and being watched by this country. And how I faked my death to run away.
“I see. So that’s what happened… But what are you going to do now?”
“I’m planning to go somewhere after we wrap things up here. I have things I have to do.”
Yes, go to the Dragon Kingdom to save Mia.
According to the dragon king, that’s where we can find the ingredients to make elixir.
“I see…”
Mikaru looks a little sad.
“Good luck.”
But she cheers me on.
