Walking in another world – Chapter 401 – Capital – Part five

It’s been five days since the capital was defended from the attack of the monsters, and we still haven’t left.

A whole bunch of dead monsters were left near the city, so I was sent out to deal with it. Also, Morrigan’s condition isn’t returning to normal.

I talked to Naoto and Miharu about taking them to the faraway town first, but they said they wanted to stay here and help too.

Then I proposed going there and bringing Shun and Kotori here, but Miharu said there was no need. And kind of strongly too.

Speaking of Miharu, she went to the church again today to help.

The monsters’ advance was stopped, but a good number of people were left injured, and they don’t have enough hands to deal with it all. And people in the church already knew her anyway.

“Are you going to take monsters apart again today, Hikari?”

“Yes.”

Hikari has been going with Rurika and the others to take monsters apart. And Naoto is tagging along because he said he might as well take the opportunity to learn.

As for the people that were in similar circumstances to Hikari’s… The people who inherited otherworlder blood have been given new homes, and many are receiving treatment. There really was a lot of messed up stuff done to them, like brainwashing, so it’s going to take some time for them to heal.

Hikari seems interested, but doesn’t go see how they’re doing. I guess it might bring up memories she’d rather stayed buried.

As for me, I’m retrieving monster corpses and delivering them to the adventurer guild again.

I’ve been freezing the corpses so they don’t rot, and delivering the necessary amount to the guild with my Item Box. And I’ve been transporting the materials after they’ve been taken apart too.

At first there were a lot of people doing this, but before I knew it, it was down to me and two others.

Still, I feel like I’m the one given the most work to do. Not that I’m complaining, because I’m also getting a lot of money. And coming and going is letting me walk a lot too for the first time in a while.

Learning Transfer means I can move from one place to another smoothly, but it also means I haven’t been able to take my time walking without rushing.

Saving Mia means time is of the essence, but I can’t help but wish I could travel a little more slowly and enjoy the scenery.

I’m sure people who travel around for a living like merchants would say what I’m thinking is a luxury, but I’m not struggling to make a living at all.

Learning Alchemy through the Walking skill played a big part in that, but the prices of potions might drop once the problems with the demon king settle down.

Maybe I need to come up with another way to make money.

I have plenty of skill points too, so it might be nice to start learning things that will help with my everyday life.

“Oh? You’re going to take monsters apart too, Chris?”

“Ah, Sora. Yes, I figured I would join them today. I have been using my Earth Magic to help with that too.”

Chris is looking at the sorcerers fighting a hard battle against the big craters they have to fill.

They’re not sorcerers that use offensive spells, they’re more like sorcerers who are good at civil engineering.

“When are we going to leave?”

To Chris, this is a country where something painful happened, and she wants to move Morrigan away from here quickly.

And she probably wants to take her to see Eris too.

I proposed that I bring Eris here too, but apparently she’s too busy over there. We spoke through the communications device that Ghido has.

But she was really happy when she heard about Morrigan.

Three more days pass, and it’s time to leave the capital, and go back to the faraway town.

And as we’re getting ready to leave, we’re given a few houses in the area where the nobles lived. I say a few, because it’s not just us, Naoto and the others too.

We’re told we can sell them if we don’t need them, and the beast king’s people will hire others to look after them in the meantime.

Oh, and since Argo and the others were onboard with the beast king’s plan from the start, they’re getting them too.

They look pretty troubled though, and say they aren’t going to be able to relax living in a place like that. I guess it’s because it’s a place where nobles lived originally.

And me? Well, I lived in a cardinal’s place in the Holy Kingdom of Frieren, and a castle in the Dragon Kingdom, so I’m used to it by now.

Naoto is also used to being looked after in the castle, so it doesn’t feel odd to him. Still, I don’t think he really wants to live here, but takes it because he needs a base of sorts.

I leave a Transfer magic item in one of the mansions, take Morrigan and Karina, along with Argo and the others because Argo insisted really hard, and move to the faraway town. Of course, with Ghido’s permission.

Speaking of Ghido, he’s going to be staying here for a while, while the others are going to leave the capital to do other things.
