Walking in another world – Chapter 415 – Altair’s dungeon – Eighth floor – Part two

We kept going, taking a few more breaks along the way, but we’re going to have to stop for today because the sun has gone down.

At this point I’ve made a few snow huts, so I’m used to it, and I have an easy time building them.

“But it’s strange that being surrounded by snow makes us warm.”

Rurika is peeking over here, looking for an explanation, but unfortunately, I don’t really understand the principles behind it either. And so, I can’t explain it.

All I know is what I’ve seen on TV, and that’s that it’s warm inside a snow hut. Also, I’ve infused a lot of magic energy into it to strengthen it.

I did the same to the golems, which are now keeping watch. Chris helped me with that.

There’s no sign of monsters right now, but that might change at night. It never hurts to be careful.

Also, I’m testing a new skill.

Synchronization Lv1.

This is similar to the skill Luilui used. It allows me to pick a target and see what they’re seeing. It’s mainly used on golems, so it lets me see what the golems are seeing.

The difference between this and what Luilui used, is that the low level means I really can’t use it on anything other than golems. Also, I can only watch, I can’t take over the golems and control them or anything like that.

Maybe that will be possible when it levels up.

I cut the Synchronization, and start cooking while being careful about the fire. Bread and meat can be eaten as they are, but soup should really be warm. I guess it depends on how people are feeling. And there’s also the fact that the fire is keeping us warm.

We eat silently for a while, and when we’re done, we talk about what to do next.

“How far have we come?”

“About a fifth of the way there?”

I answer Rurika’s question while infusing Map with magic energy to enlarge it, and she doesn’t look too happy with that.

I think we spent longer in Majolica’s dungeon, but I think the problem is this snowy environment.

Still, I think not having to walk on the snow makes it less tiring. Not that I’d actually know.

But the cold itself also takes a toll on the stamina.

“But I think it’s better to go at this pace, instead of hurrying and pushing ourselves too much.”

“Chris is right. Do you want a golem to carry you, Rurika?”

“N-no, I’ll just keep at it.”

Rurika’s face is red. She’s probably imagining herself being carried by a golem.

“Let’s just rest. We should reach the next floor in four days if everything goes well. If we’re tired then, we can leave the dungeon and then come back.”

We can relax and rest like this, all because we can create an environment where we’re protected from the cold, except when we’re moving. Of course, we still need to keep watch though.

“Yes. I’ll take the first shift.”

“Me too.”

Rurika and Hikari are keeping watch first, then it will be me, Chris, and Sera.

When it’s my time to keep watch and I wake up, I start by looking outside with Synchronization. I’ve made it so the golems aren’t moving, in an energy saving mode of sorts, but they would raise an alert if something got close, and move to intercept it.

The fact that it hasn’t happened tells me the night has been without incident so far.

I check where the moonlight is illuminating, but all I see is a silver world. And suffice to say, I can’t see as far as I did during the day, so I keep the Night Vision skill on.

“I don’t see any problems.”

I keep Synchronization on and drink something warm. I wouldn’t be able to do anything while using Synchronization if I didn’t also have the Parallel Thinking skill.

“Thanks Sora.”

“Thanks.”

I hand them drinks too, and sigh. None of us have anything to talk about, so it stays silent.

But I’m not opposed to some peaceful time like this. It even makes me forget we’re in a dungeon.

“So they’re becoming more violent… Compared to other dungeons… Well, I’ve only been to Majolica’s, but the environment here seems different. Are the things happening around the Dragon Kingdom really happening because the dragon king is gone?”

“The timing leads me to believe there’s a very good chance.”

“Then it could be trouble if monsters appear as we keep going.”

Sera’s right. We don’t even know what monsters appear on the other floors. We should keep in mind that we might have to run if it comes to that.

Come to think of it, would Transfer take us to outside a dungeon? That thought suddenly crosses my mind, but sadly, it doesn’t look like it’s possible.

Apparently, I can use it if it’s in the dungeon… And on the same floor. And everyone would have to be gathered around me.

Worst case scenario, I could take one person at a time, but I’d have to keep an eye on the MP. And the more people I use it on, the more MP it spends.

And with the golems active, I have less leeway with my MP than I expected.

Also, Chris can infuse the golems with MP too, but not attributes, so I’m the one who has to do it on this floor.
