When I go back inside the snow hut, I see they’re still sleeping.
There’s nothing wrong with their breathing or pulse, but that’s all I can say.
Maybe their magic energy depletion means that they just have to recover it, but since that crystal really did take it from them, Chris says we should do something.
And so, I have her hold Hikari’s body, and grab both her hands.
I’m doing what I did when we first started practicing magic energy control, and I taught her about the flow of magic energy. And I’m having Chris hold her up like this so I can see the reaction of the flow.
If they aren’t recovering on their own, what if we infuse magic energy externally? According to Chris, feeding it to them orally didn’t work.
And honestly, I didn’t know how to react when she said that to me with her face red from embarrassment. And Sera couldn’t help but smile awkwardly as Chris spoke in that naive and honest way.
Those things cross my mind, but I focus on making magic energy flow to Hikari instead. Needless to say, it’s important to take it slowly.
I keep infusing the magic energy while watching it through Magic Energy Detection, but it suddenly disappears after flowing from her hands to her body.
“What is it Sora?”
“Ah, the magic energy disappeared suddenly.”
I say, expressing my surprise.
I don’t think she gets it, so I keep infusing it while explaining it in a simple way.
“But isn’t that bad? Did some weird change happen to their bodies?”
After hearing that, I get worried too, so I use Appraisal again.
Name – (Hikari) / Job – (—) / Level – (71) / Race – (Human) / Condition – (Magic energy depletion)
And when I cast it on the status effect, it says ‘zero magic energy’.
I keep looking at it, and then it switches to saying she has magic energy, then magic energy absorption, and then it’s back to having none.
For a moment, I wonder if I should keep testing it, but I stop infusing the magic energy. I’m scared that there will be some sort of weird reaction if I keep doing it.
“Let’s get away from here as soon as possible. We stopped being affected by it when we took some distance too.”
I explain to Chris and Sera what’s going on, and recommend getting out of here.
And since it’s still light outside, we keep moving. The humanoid golem goes in front to melt the snow, while the canine golem pushes a cart carrying Hikari and Rurika.
I infused the humanoid golem with magic energy, and Chris the canine one. And since that means the canine one can’t melt snow, the humanoid golem goes in front, then Sera, the canine golem, Chris, and me in the back. Actually, Chris and I are walking together.
Also, the reason why we’re each infusing a golem with magic energy, is that we move faster that way.
“Are you all right, Sora?”
“Yes, especially since you’re taking one of them. And it’s not hard to give it instructions when we’re just moving forward.”
There’s some distance between me and the golem, but it’s fine.
And I only see that one crystal tree in the middle of my map. Good thing there aren’t more, or we’d have to walk all over to avoid them.
And there aren’t any monsters either. Or rather, there haven’t been any so far. We still need to be careful.
The two people here that are good at detecting monsters are down, so it all falls on me, but I’ve also had a burden lifted off me because Chris is handling one of the golems.
“I wish I could help more too.”
“Don’t worry about it Sera. You’re the reason why we can advance like this without having to worry.”
“You’re watching over our surroundings while we walk. If Presence Detection doesn’t catch them, it’s all down to sight.”
The fact that Presence Detection isn’t showing me any monsters is also making me anxious, because of that weird crystal tree.
I want to cast Appraisal on it, but getting near it is too risky.
I managed to get close to save those two, but who knows if I’ll be that lucky next time.
And if I go down, that would put a big burden on Sera and Chris.
“I know. How about trying to communicate with the outside via the communications device?”
“Yes, grandma might know something.”
Chris gets an idea, and takes out the device, but her expression soon darkens.
“It’s not connecting.”
She says. I try to contact Kotori too, to no avail.
I get out of the snow hut and try contacting Chris, but this time, it connects.
“So we can’t communicate with people outside the dungeon.”
We don’t know if it’s just this dungeon, or if it’s with every dungeon, but in any case, we can’t call outside.
“Let’s head to the exit and get out of the dungeon for now.”
I say, and they nod.
