Walking in another world – Chapter 439 – Report and confirm

We spend the night in Eril, and then leave for Nahal.

We could do it the same day, but the kids won’t let go of us. Mia is particularly popular, and since they knew what was going on, they are really happy to see her.

Even when we were in the faraway town, she would look after the kids a lot with Hikari.

And everyone’s happy when I take out the rare food I got in Hafre.

We don’t really come across anyone on the way to Nahal, and have a safe trip. And since I can check things with Map and Presence Detection, I can summon golems.

This is mostly just to increase the proficiency of the Life Granting and Sync skills. We’re going to be exploring dungeons, so I’m sure the golems are going to be working a lot.

And since, in Majolica’s dungeon at least, we can only return to the surface on floors that are multiples of five, we are going to end up living in the dungeon for a while. Not to mention that the further down we go, the bigger the floors get.

Actually, Kotori told me that in the other dungeon in Efa, the one in Prekes, it’s possible to return to the surface on any floor, like in Altair.

But every floor is a field type, so they’re pretty vast. And they’re especially tough during times when monsters are spawning.

Also, the entrances and exits are fixed, so we’ll know where to go.

Should we talk to her again when it’s time to go to Prekes? If the timing is right, we might be able to ask her to guide us.

Five days after leaving Eril, we reach Nahal.

“So you’re Mia. I heard about how much you helped Rurika, Chris, and Sera, so thanks.”

Morrigan bows when she meets her, and Mia is perplexed.

She’s looking this way, as if asking for help, but is there anyone who’s going to stop Morrigan?

“Grandma, do you have a moment?”

There is, Chris.

“What?”

“I have a few questions about dungeons.”

“…Then let’s go somewhere else.”

Morrigan seems to have picked up on something from Chris’ tone, so we move to Morrigan’s room.

It would be cramped with seven people here, so it’s just me, Chris, and Morrigan.

The others are helping Filo and Olin.

“So, what do you want to know about dungeons?”

“…Grandma, I think there are only seven dungeons now, but did there used to be more?”

“…Where did you hear that?”

“Well…”

Chris thoroughly explains what she heard from Eliana in the Dragon Kingdom.

Morrigan listens silently, but looks very surprised when Chris gets to the part about the spirit goddess.

“I see. Yes, there used to be a lot more dungeons. I never went there, but I heard about them disappearing once the dungeon core in the deepest area was destroyed. My adventurer friends used to tell me about them all the time.”

She says, sounding nostalgic.

“I don’t remember when it was exactly, but dungeons stopped appearing. All that’s left is the seven famous dungeons. I remember my friends telling me they conquered one of them, but there was no core.”

“…I have a question. How did they know they conquered it, if there was no core? Because there weren’t any stairs to go further down?”

“According to my friends, there was a voice in their heads. It said they conquered the dungeon. I remember them saying they received something, but they ended up not telling me what.”

As she hears Morrigan, Chris clenches her fists.

“Are you going?”

Asks Morrigan, and Chris nods.

“Who did you take after? You’ve always been stubborn.”

Morrigan says that she used to have a lot of trouble when Chris was younger, and she cried about going out to look for Eris. Chris faces down with her face turning red.

Morrigan gets an evil smile on her face, and starts talking about things that happened when Chris was little, until Chris can’t handle that anymore, and stops her mid-sentence.

Her face is even redder, but Morrigan looks to be having a lot of fun.

But it doesn’t feel like she’s mocking her or anything. I feel like all she really wants is to talk to me about when Chris was a little girl.

She keeps peeking my way to check my reaction.

“Well, you won’t be alone. Be careful out there. Look after her, Sora.”

I nod, and Chris probably doesn’t want her telling me more weird stories, so she pushes me out of the room.

I can hear an amused laugh behind me.
