Walking in another world – Chapter 456 – Majolica’s dungeon – 31F

Goblins appear on this floor. But of course, they’re not normal goblins. It’s stuff like mages and archers, and other goblins with those kinds of jobs. I’ve also read that goblin kings too, but rarely.

That should be easy then, right? Some people make that mistake, and have a hard time because they think these goblins are the same as the ones in places like boss rooms.

The difference here is that their weapons have been upgraded, and the goblins themselves also have higher levels.

I can tell this is true by casting Appraisal on them.

Also, I don’t know if it’s because of their higher level, but once we actually fight them, the goblins seem to formulate strategies.

Well, some just charge forward without thinking, but most attack in coordination with the others.

“We should call that one guard instead of fighter.”

“Yes, it was good with that shield. And it was doing a good job protecting the archers and mages too.”

After we fight, Sera and Rurika praise the goblin’s moves.

“And be careful about traps.”

“Yes, that other one was making use of traps.”

I respond to Hikari as I remember what it did.

There was one goblin that suddenly ran towards traps when it saw the battle wasn’t going well for them. This time it didn’t manage to do anything, because Chris took it down before it could activate traps, but who knows what would have happened if it did.

That reminds me of the kobold chief that tried to make use of traps too. And since there are kobolds on the next floor, we might meet it again.

The stuff I read said they don’t appear frequently, but that also means they could appear.

“Well, let’s just be careful. Not a lot of people hunt here, so that means it might be full of monsters.”

There are always some floors that are popular, and some that aren’t. And people tend to avoid ones with goblins because they can’t harvest materials from them.

There are those that pass by here on the way back to exit the dungeon, but no one picks it as their main hunting ground.

“Without being able to get materials, no one is going to want to come here even if the magic stones are a bit better.”

“It’s because they’re goblins. If you want to make money, you’re better off doing quests on upper floors. Like the fifteenth floor. Apparently escorting quests are pretty popular there.”

It’s because it’s possible to get mithril. I’ve heard that lately, major clans have started their own independent mining. There aren’t really regulations about that, and countries and feudal lords don’t stop them either.

But whether or not it’s profitable depends on whether or not they hire capable miners.

And since they need a good number of people, they need more guards the more people they bring.

That makes me wonder if they even make a profit, but I guess that’s just how alluring mithril is.

“If they’re going to do that, I think they’d be better off trying to get rich from treasure chests in a boss room.”

“Are you sure about that Siphon? Think about what we’ve gotten so far.”

Jin objects to Siphon’s words with an exasperated tone.

Siphon looks away, which tells me they probably didn’t get anything too good.

“Honestly, the only thing that might be worth a good amount is the return stone.”

“Yes, but since we took it for ourselves, we can’t sell it. That means we actually haven’t made much.”

Says Yuno, and Geitz tells us they haven’t been able to save a lot of money.

But still, they’re saving on renting rooms at an inn by staying with us, and more important than that, Siphon has been drinking less, so that helps.

“Drinking is an important tool to gather information, you know? People trade valuable information over drinks.”

“Fufu, then how about you go by yourself next time?”

Siphon really tries to emphasize how important it is, but Yuno shoots him down with a smile. I think it’s fine if it’s money he earned…

Then I remember people being all loud and messing around in the guild. I’ve done that too, and at the time, I thought it was nice to eat there once in a while.

And now? If asked, I’d say I’d rather relax and eat at home or at stalls.

It’s better than eating with single old guys.

Or could it be that when I start to enjoy drinking, I’ll start thinking that sort of thing isn’t bad either?

“Nevermind that, what now? We should be able to reach the thirty-second floor tomorrow if we keep going like this, so are we heading to the thirty-fifth floor as planned?”

“We have plenty of resources, so I think we can… But will it be all right?”

I ask Siphon, and he nods.

I have enough food in the Item Box to easily last half a year.

Actually, I’m going to get even more as we go to new towns and buy things there.

We’re going to cook for ourselves a lot while we explore dungeons, which makes me wonder just how much my Item Box can hold.

At the very least, I haven’t reached its maximum capacity ever since I started leveling it up.

I’d like to know the limit someday, but the idea that it has infinite space makes me happy too.
