Walking in another world – Chapter 469 – Majolica’s dungeon – 36F and 37F

Giants appear on the thirty-sixth floor, but the difference between this and the thirty-fourth is that more appear here.

The passages get wider the further down we go in the dungeon, but since it’s hard for giants to fight in them if five of them show up at once, they’re not that much of a threat if we fight in these passages. Not to mention that the number of giants in groups is predetermined.

However, something that’s different on this floor is that there are a few large rooms at the end of passages. Since they can be fifty square meters wide, it’s plenty of space for even more than five giants to move around freely.

Also, there are rooms where monster spawns are predetermined, meaning they spawn after a set amount of time after being defeated.

With that in mind, we should be cautious about these rooms, but also not get careless in passages.

“Are those adventurers in position over there?”

Once we enter a small room, we see adventurers, not monsters.

“They must be waiting for monsters to spawn. They’re learning how to fight multiple giants here before challenging the lower floors.”

A lot of people do that on this floor, but this is a sight seen mostly near the staircase to the thirty-fifth floor. The further we go, the fewer people we’ll see.

It makes sense, if they’re not going to the next floor yet, and want to be able to easily go back.

“I feel like we could take on ten, even if they surrounded us.”

We don’t have a lot of people, but we have a good balance, so we probably wouldn’t struggle at this point.

Honestly, the last floor was probably tougher.

“It’s thanks to these golems. They help keep the balance.”

Geitz isn’t wrong. In passages, we just have to watch our front and backs, but in open spaces like rooms, we might not be able to handle attacks from every direction.

I can use the Provoke skill to attract monsters, but even that only works to a certain extent.

That’s why in large rooms, we advance with me, Geitz, and a golem forming a triangle.

And then there’s the fact that we have overwhelming firepower. Chris stands above everyone else, but she can’t always be firing magic because of her MP. Her powerful magic also means spending more of it.

Sera and Siphon on the other hand are also very strong, and more reliable. When there are many monsters, they take the lead to reduce their numbers, followed by Jin and the others moving in to assist. We’re keeping up this pace to preserve our stamina.

And so, the deeper we go, the more efficient we get at hunting the monsters. And people get even stronger due to level ups from beating monsters.

We spend the night in front of the staircase to the thirty-seventh floor, and then go down.

Giants also spawn here, but they use different weapons. On the last floor, they used clubs, but some here have morning stars, and can attack from a distance.

Most attack from a close range, but the ones that attack from a distance attack our back row directly, so we need to make an effort to get close to them to take them down. That can ruin our formation.

We can use Aura Shield to block attacks, but that’s just Geitz and I. The corner covered by the golem would be open.

And the long range attacks aren’t all we have to worry about.

I could give the golem one of those shield magic items I gave Mia and Chris, but those use the user’s magic energy. A golem could learn how to use them, but it would eat into their operational time.

“I think the best option is for us to attack from a distance too, mostly Orga. And can you back us up with throwing knives, Hikari?”

Asks Siphon, and Hikari nods.

This is less a matter of how well the weapons do, and more because she’s the best at handling throwing knives. She can hold multiple throwing knives between her fingers and throw them, and her accuracy is good too.

Still, no matter how much we try to prevent it, monsters end up getting through and attacking the back row. But that’s where Mia comes in.

She mainly uses support spells like Protection, so I ask her to cover the back row with her shield magic item if necessary. This should be easy, since her high level means she has plenty of magic energy, but still…

“Don’t overdo it, and tell us if you’re in trouble.”

I say to her.

She has a lot of magic energy, but when there are a lot of monsters, she has to focus on attacks from all sides. That has to be exhausting.

“Fufu, I’m not like you, Sora. If I can’t handle it, I’ll say it, so don’t worry.”

She tells me.

And in reality, as we fight through the thirty-seventh floor, we don’t push it when people start to look tired, and take breaks. And we get through it safely in a few days.

But then an issue appears.
