After checking Map on the forty-first floor, I see a lot of people’s reactions.
I think it’s my first time seeing such a big disparity between the number of people and monsters.
There are five groups, so apparently what I heard about the five biggest clans being here is true.
Each group ranges from forty to sixty people, but that’s just what I see on Map. They’re all already halfway through my Map, and there are no monsters around there.
Conversely, there are monsters near the staircases. I figured all the monsters around the entrance would’ve been taken down already, but I guess they spawned again.
“I heard that all the clans entered the forty-first floor after we beat the fortieth, but apparently they were already ready.”
“I guess us beating it set a fire under them to move even further.”
I hear Siphon and Jin talk, and feel a little relieved that the others didn’t just panic and rush to advance.
Being a trailblazer gets you fame and fortune, but your life is on the line too.
Also, Guardian Sword has reached the forty-second floor, but they’re here because not all of them have conquered the forty-first.
“So, how are we going to proceed this time, Sora?”
“Yes… How about that side? There’s a magic energy reaction in the passage, so watch out for traps. Hikari, please.”
“Leave it to me.”
I respond to Mia while checking Map, and tell everyone there might be traps.
Hikari walks with Rurika, and I once again look at the dungeon. Here on the forty-first floor, it’s wide enough that our group of eleven people plus two golems could walk side by side.
We keep advancing while disarming traps, and fight giant guards in passages and rooms, but there are at most three of them in passages. In rooms, they go from ten to twenty, and while their equipment is flashy, they don’t put up much of a fight.
I see a lot of rooms on Map, and a lot of monsters in them, but we can avoid them and still move forward, so if we’re trying to get through this quickly, we only have to fight in three rooms a day at most, and it’s not one after the other. The fact that our first attack is Chris’ spirit magic helps a lot too.
“Chris, your magic really is strong.”
“It’s because there is time between fights. And the magic item you made helps a lot too.”
She’s talking about a magic item that has a similar effect to Natural Recovery Boost, that accelerates her MP recovery.
I made it with the Creation skill, and gave one to Mia, Chris, and Yuno.
“But it’s dangerous to rely on that, so we should fight once without spirit magic. Use only regular magic in the next room, please.”
Says Siphon, and after thinking about it for a bit, Chris nods.
When we actually fight without her spirit magic, Geitz and I draw the enemies to us, and everyone beats them one at a time, so it takes much longer.
I think Chris and Yuno can beat them if they have an opening, but there’s a chance of hitting an ally in this melee, so they tend to support the others instead. This means there’s more for the ones fighting at close range to do.
But still, we beat the monsters. And we know more or less how they respawn too.
There are no rules in passages, but in rooms, they become sort of safe areas for a day after monsters have been beaten.
That doesn’t just go for monsters we beat, I can see on Map that it’s valid with the clans ahead of us too.
And so, we camp in a nearby room when it’s time to sleep.
The other clans have caught on to this too, so they’re all doing the same thing.
But we never know what might happen in a dungeon, and monsters might spawn randomly in passages and wander in here, so we can’t fully relax.
And so, we still take turns keeping watch, and I summon golems.
I haven’t been summoning them while we walk around so we can fight without them. And more importantly, because we might bump into other adventurers.
“I think it would be fine this far away.”
“Are you talking about the golems?”
“Yes. We’re not going to face other clans. But apparently there are traps that send people to other places. And who knows what might happen with so many people around.”
We found a lot of active traps along the way, but I don’t know if they weren’t disarmed, or if they rearm themselves.
Hikari and the others say these are more difficult, but surely the clans also have people that can disarm them, and they wouldn’t miss them…
In any case, we need to be ready for anything.
