“Eh?”
There’s a surprised voice when Mia presents her dungeon card in the reception desk.
They check it again, then check Sera and the others’ cards, and we’re taken to another room.
“Hum, can I ask you to tell us more?”
There’s a guild employee with a pen and paper, asking us to talk about the forty-third and forty-fourth floors.
But it’s not like we have a lot of new information. In the forty-third floor, the giant elites are the same, except there’s a higher chance of them using magic, and a lot have shields to protect that back row.
That meant it wasn’t that hard to fight them in rooms, but it did become harder to fight them in passages.
It was impossible to keep moving without breaking through the shield wall, and even Chris and the others’ magic was having a hard time doing it.
“So how did you get through it?”
We say we either charged through with Aura Shield, or if there were rooms nearby, we lured them and fought them there.
But of course, most of the time, we just beat them with raw power.
I’m going to need to stock up on infused throwing knives again.
“And how was the forty-fourth floor?”
“There were cyclops there. Giant monsters with one eye that were similar to gigantes.”
“Cyclops? I have never heard that name before… Have you ever seen them somewhere?”
I’m asked with a serious expression. Come to think of it, Siphon’s party did the same.
“They’re like gigantes.”
They didn’t know what I meant by cyclops either.
“Ah, we just happened to learn that when we went to the ruins in the Republic of Eldo.”
I hesitate to talk about Appraisal, so I say that instead. That’s how I know they’re called cyclops.
I’m curious about how they investigate new monsters that were just discovered in the dungeon, but I should ask Chris or Siphon later, and just focus on this now.
They ask us how we fought them, what weapons and magic worked. Personal skill and power, and equipment play a big role, so it’s just for reference.
“So, did you go to the forty-fifth floor too?”
When we’re asked that at the end, Hikari frowns, and Rurika doesn’t look happy either.
The guild employee is confused, but it makes sense that only we know why.
“All the field floors before this one were grassy fields or forests, so we thought it’d be the same, but it turned out to be an area covered in snow.”
Yes, just like the eighth floor of Altair’s dungeon.
Unfortunately, there were no monsters near the entrance, so we just took a look around us and left.
We have the equipment we used before, but Siphon’s party didn’t have equipment to protect themselves from the cold. It was really cold too, so we definitely need it.
“All right. Thank you very much. And congratulations for reaching the forty-fifth floor.”
We were the first to reach it. That’s why the receptionist was surprised by the dungeon cards, and we’re answering questions like this.
But it’s not like there’s a reward in it or anything. They used to offer one as an incentive for adventurers to keep conquering the dungeon, but they put a stop to it after too many people lost their lives recklessly rushing to get ahead.
“So we need equipment… It doesn’t sound like it will be easy to get stuff to protect against the cold here. And it should have good defensive power too.”
“Should we try another town?”
Transfer lets me go shopping in another country if we need to.
“No, it will take some time, but we should have it made here. And if we can’t, we can stop by the merchant guild. And we can use the opportunity to take a break from the dungeon too.”
“Yes, Elsa and Alto probably miss us too. We should spend some time with them.”
Siphon and Yuno say they want to spend some time on their equipment, so we’re putting the dungeon exploration on hold.
And we start talking about visiting another town with Elsa and Alto while we’re at it.
