Walking in another world – Chapter 480 – Plant spirit

Eris is talking about having formed a contract with a new spirit, and it’s actually hovering near her.

By using Magic Energy Detection, I can see multiple reactions of spirits around here.

I don’t know if it’s because I met Eliana, but I can now tell the reactions of spirits apart with Magic Energy Detection.

There are actually more spirits roaming around this world than you’d expect, but rarely in towns.

“At first this spirit thought it was curious, and was only watching us work when I came here to help.”

And after a few days of this, the spirit spoke to her.

“It’s not a bad spirit, and it would sometimes use spirit power to accelerate the growth of vegetables. But its strength was limited without a contract, so it wasn’t that powerful.”

Some have great abilities and can use strong power even without forming a contract with someone, but those are rare.

And apparently Eris also formed a contract with at least one of those.

“I think this spirit wanted to use even more power after seeing how happy people were about the crops growing faster.”

The reaction of the spirit gets stronger, as if agreeing with Eris.

Ever since then, they’ve been getting the help of this spirit, and the crops have been growing big and tasty. Even trees that would take years to grow are growing rapidly and bearing fruit.

I do see all sorts of fruit, with a luster that makes them look tasty.

Rurika and the others don’t take their eyes off them while Eris explains, so she giggles, and picks them to give one to each of us.

When I take a bite off the red fruit, a sweet taste fills my mouth.

It’s a little too strong for me, but it looks like it’s perfect for the others.

“It’s nice and sweet.”

The spirit starts flying around the girls when it hears this.

“But are you sure it’s all right?”

“Doing this somewhere else might be a bit of a problem, so I think practicing here is perfect. Apparently this spirit is too fired up to control its power well too.”

Eris says in response to Chris’ question.

I get what she means, there would be a lot of people that would want this power to make crops grow.

Even just here in the Republic of Eldo, when we first got to Nahal, there were problems with food shortages. If people hear about this blessing given through Eris, it wouldn’t be that strange for them to try to get it, even if it meant kidnapping her.

Also, I don’t know if there are gourmets in this world or something like that, but I can see them setting their sights on her too.

That’s just what I’m thinking, but I do get that feeling from selfish nobles.

Well, I think Morrigan’s influence means people in Eldo wouldn’t lay their hands on this land, and even if other countries got wind of it, there are demons disguised as humans hanging around, so I think it might be fine.

“Ah, Eris!”

We talk for a while and look at the fields, when Hikari and the others show up.

Eris is immediately surrounded by kids that want to talk to her. They have a lot of contact with her because she stays in Suiren’s place while in Nahal.

But judging by how the kids act, it’s less like they just live together, and more like they really trust her. One of the smaller kids wants to be held, and she obliges with a smile.

Elsa and Alto are having fun talking with the other kids too. Alto in particular keeps looking around with curiosity, and is actually proactive in talking to others for once.

“He’s excited about seeing a lot of things for the first time. He was overwhelmed by the other kids at first, and hid behind Elsa.”

Says Mia as she approaches me.

The way she’s looking at them reminds me of a mother gently watching over her children.

She’s probably the one who had the most contact with them, so I imagine she’s happy about that change.

When it’s time for lunch, we help pick vegetables, and use them in a lively barbecue.

The other kids are surprised when Elsa and Alto help me cook. Eris says they never really help with that, so they’re impressed that these two kids can cook.

She says that while looking at Rurika, Sera, and Chris, probably thinking back to when they were kids.

And for some reason, they look away. But they were very young when they lived with Eris, so it makes sense.

Or is it common for even young children to help out with that sort of thing in this world?
