Walking in another world – Chapter 497 – Clash?

“Welcome back. You’re pretty late… What happened with you three?”

Rurika welcomes us back, but looks puzzled when she sees our faces.

“Well, a lot happened.”

Says Siphon, and Jin smiles awkwardly.

“But Hikari looks happy.”

Rurika’s right, Hikari is in a good mood.

“Yes, I’m all refreshed because I got to exercise.”

Says Hikari, and then she goes to Elsa and the others to ask what’s for dinner.

“That young lady never ceases to surprise me.”

Says Siphon while looking into the distance.

“So, did something happen?”

Asks Rurika while we sit facing each other in the dining room, and have drinks.

“I shut them up.”

Hikari says flatly before any of us can speak.

I guess that’s one way to put it, but Rurika and the others are confused. Why wouldn’t they be?

And so, I start explaining instead of Hikari, who is just happily having her drink.

The four of us went to Guardian Sword’s place to confirm some things before we go to the fiftieth floor three days from now. We started by talking about who’s going, and then other things like getting disposable items, and strategy.

“The previous floors led us to believe it will be a giant type monster, but is it going to be a superior species, or a new boss monster?”

Considering it was gigantes on the fortieth floor, we can’t rule out the possibility of it being a new monster.

“But there aren’t that many records of giant monsters.”

Said Jin, and Jake, Ash, and Siphon sighed.

Giant type monsters aren’t actually that common outside of dungeons in the first place.

Apparently they were sighted years ago, but who knows if that’s even true.

They’re in the adventurer guild’s monster field guide, but a lot of monsters in the lower floors of Majolica’s dungeon are ones appearing for the first time.

That’s why their materials are flying off the shelves.

We kept talking about this and that, and the discussion lasted for a long time. Jake and Siphon digressed here and there because they were drinking… Ah, that’s supposed to be a secret.

Siphon looks around to see if Yuno is here, and lets out a sigh of relief when he sees she isn’t.

I’m getting off track.

Anyway, we were at it for a while without interruption, but when we were about to call it a day, some members of Guardian Sword who were left out of the boss fight came in to plead to be allowed to join it.

Of course, Jake and Ash said no, and were angry.

When they did so, some older members like one called Gabin looked our way with cold eyes.

Well, it was already a done deal for Guardian Sword, but they even asked us to let them have our spots.

That would defeat the purpose of our deal with Jake. Not that I don’t understand why they want this so much.

Judging from the boss door we saw, there’s a good chance that’s the last floor. It makes sense to want to be a part of it.

Also, surely some of these people joined a big clan precisely to get the fame that comes with being on the frontline.

If it wasn’t for Siphon and the others, I might have actually let them have it.

“So what happened?”

“I got them.”

“Well, Hikari got angry…”

“And told them it’s because they were weak.”

“Then they got furious and challenged her to mock battles, but…”

“She didn’t go easy on them.”

Rurika doesn’t need to hear any more.

Hikari is strong enough to fight us two on one.

Her opponents weren’t worried at first. Hikari doesn’t look like someone who would do a lot against giants.

Her dagger isn’t good against big opponents either, but despite not being flashy, she took one down by hitting its vital spots, and when she saw Guardian Sword could fight them, she shifted to either paralyzing the monsters, or supporting the others.

Gabin and others like him could tell from her movements, but the others who came to complain were too focused on their fights to see that when we were in the dungeon.

“And in the end, she showed how big the gap between them really is…”

That was enough. But Hikari looked like she was in a pretty bad mood, and the mock battles allowed her to vent.

Her bad mood was from having to endure that long discussion, and from us switching to a new topic when she thought we were done. And she was hungry.

“Jake and the others were upset too, so even when the others had tears in their eyes, they didn’t stop Hikari until she was satisfied.”

“So that’s what took you so long.”

Rurika is exasperated, but tells Hikari she did well.
