We meet up with Guardian Sword in the adventurer guild, and head to the fiftieth floor.
People already know we reached it, so there’s a big ruckus, because it’s obvious that the thirty of us are finally going to challenge the boss.
We do our final checks in front of the boss room, and Jake apologizes again.
I think that sort of thing is unavoidable considering the scope of this and how many people they gathered.
It looks like they are going to talk things over with the members of Guardian Sword who complained after this is over. They have two choices, stay in Guardian Sword (and I guess be demoted?) or leave Majolica.
If they try to join another clan, they’re going to know why they left Guardian Sword, and that it was a breach of contract, so I doubt any would take them.
Power is everything to adventurers, but that’s not always true when they’re a part of a group.
“Are you ready?”
We nod to Jake, and go inside.
No matter how many times I experience it, entering a boss room still makes me nervous. And if I felt nervous in the tenth and twentieth boss rooms, when I knew what the bosses were, that’s amplified here.
The fiftieth floor looks like ruins. There are destroyed buildings left and right, and broken stone pavement.
I can’t see the boss, but I’m sure it will spawn soon enough.
“It’s cramped in here.”
Ash is right, this boss room is smaller than the others.
I think it’s only a little bigger than a football field.
Jake gives instructions, and Guardian Sword takes formation.
There are nineteen of them. Seven shield users, six who specialize in physical attacks, four sorcerers in the back, one holy magic user, and one holding a bow.
But some of the shield users are also holding weapons, so they’ll attack depending on the situation.
There aren’t many pure shield users, because Guardian Sword has been adapting to how fierce the fighting is on the lower floors.
They’re not good compared to Geitz, but Geitz himself says they’re not bad.
As we watch them get ready, we also take formation with Geitz in the front, and I call both golems.
The dog golem is going to hit and run, and the humanoid golem is equipped with a magic shield to go in front.
I’m staying back to guard Chris and the others, but I’ll also go in front if the situation calls for it.
And as we wait for the boss to come out, my Magic Energy Detection picks up something.
It’s right in the middle of my Map.
It’s big.”
I don’t know who said that, but it’s true.
It’s about ten meters tall, I think, and it’s wearing breastplate and holding a club.
Jake holds up a magic item to look at the monster. That’s an appraisal magic item that only works in dungeons. Apparently it can only be used on monsters and items produced by dungeons, and not people.
It’s a valuable item that only Guardian Sword and one other clan have.
“Its name is titan. Apparently it has high resistance to magic…”
Says Jake, and the sorcerers all turn to him.
We were planning to have them fire a volley after the boss spawned.
The idea is to attack it and not care about materials. Taking it down is more important than securing its materials, even if they’re valuable as the first materials of this boss.
Death is the end. There are no continues here, so it makes sense to approach it like that.
But even if it’s strong against magic, we don’t know how strong, so Jake gives the signal like we planned, and the sorcerers fire.
There’s a lot of power coming from fire and wind magic. Fire is strong anyway, but wind boosts it even further.
Chris’ spirit magic is even stronger than the rest, and supposedly carries a lot of heat.
Her magic is very strong, but has the shortcoming of being hard to use around allies, so it’s perfect for firing from a distance like this.
The magic creates an intense blast that sends flames flying all over.
I use my Presence Detection, and the shield users also don’t lower their guard.
When the smoke clears, we see the titan standing like nothing happened.
Jake gives one of his sorcerers the order to fire again.
The spell is fired… But the moment it’s about to hit the titan, it looks like it’s blocked by an invisible wall.
It’s like it has a shield like mine.
“Orga!”
Siphon yells, and Orga shoots from his already drawn bow.
The arrow flies rapidly against the titan, but bounces off its skin without making a scratch.
“It didn’t feel the need to dodge… That’s a troubling reaction.”
Says Siphon, and I hear someone gulping.
