Walking in another world – Chapter 502 – Giant god Calotos

After everyone from Guardian Sword and Goblin’s Grief walks through the gate, Chris quickly activates the divine power granted by Eliana.

I’m sure Siphon and the others are worried and wondering what’s taking us so long to leave.

But just as I’m thinking I need to come up with an excuse, the world suddenly loses color.

It’s gray all around us, and even the shining gate loses its light.

“Sora, look!”

Chris is pointing to another gate. We look at each other, and go through it.

We end up in a small room, with a statue that’s over three meters tall in its center.

It reminds me of the stone statues on the twenty-fifth floor, but this one represents a man.

“I feel a lot of magic energy.

Chris is right, the magic energy coming off the statue is so strong, that I don’t need Magic Energy Detection to feel it.

It looks like Hikari, Rurika, and Sera can feel it too.

‘…Nostalgic. I am awake. But who are you?’

We’re standing still, overwhelmed by the statue, when a voice suddenly echoes in my head.

“Eliana asked us to come here.”

‘Eliana? Yes, that is Eliana’s power. And I feel something close to Elizabeth’s from you.’

He’s probably talking to Mia.

“Please let me explain what is going on first.”

‘Very well.’

And when Chris finishes explaining…

‘Yes, sad. We are responsible.’

He sounds depressed.

“And Miss Eliana asked us to liberate you.”

‘I see. Yes, then hit the statue with that staff. It should break.’

Chris is guided by the voice, and lightly hits the statue with the tip of her staff.

The statue cracks and starts crumbling, leaving only a jewel on the pedestal.

‘Thank you. Oh, name. I’m Calotos. Pleasure.’

Calotos calls himself the giant god.

According to him, he was called by the fairy god while living on the surface, and was suddenly attacked.

Calotos was sealed here, and was made unable to revive because his divine power was being used to maintain the dungeon in place of its core.

At least that’s his theory.

‘Hold. Take me to, Eliana.’

Once we’re done talking, he says he wants to go to Eliana.

“One more thing?”

‘Hn? What?’

“What would happen to this place if we took you out of here? Would the dungeon disappear?”

That’s a good question, Chris.

This place thrives as a dungeon city. If it were to disappear, Majolica would take a big blow.

‘It’s all right. Even if I’m gone, it will remain.’

He says. There’s no way for us to be sure if that’s true, so we just have to trust him.

He even goes as far as to say that the dungeon will stabilize, and there won’t be anymore incidents like monster parades. The downside is that treasure chests might stop giving precious things, but he says nothing can be done about that.

But treasure chests were always just for people trying to get rich quick. Most people make a living selling monster materials.

“So we have to take this jewel?”

‘…Hit it with the staff.’

Chris does that, and it disappears like it’s sucked into the staff.

‘This will do. Let’s go.’

Now the voice is coming from the staff.

We leave the small room, and find ourselves by the entrance to the dungeon.

Guardian Sword and Siphon’s party are here.

Siphon and the others come over to talk to us, but don’t really mention us taking a long time. Did time freeze?

Then we report to the guild. There’s a lot of excitement over the fiftieth floor being beaten, and the end of the dungeon being reached.

We leave the titan’s corpse in the storeroom, and we’re taken to a conference room to report about our fight with it.

Some people tirelessly take notes, surely to put documents together.

“Good job. Did it drop treasure?”

Asks Reese in the end, but come to think of it, it didn’t.

The relief over having beaten it and the voice echoing in my head made me completely forget about that.

“I think the rewards are different for everyone. I heard a voice when I left the dungeon too.”

“Says Jake, and everyone nods.

Voice? I didn’t hear that. I heard Calotos’, but…

Apparently they received stuff like new skills and divine protection.

And of course, no one goes into more detail than that.

The members of Guardian Sword will probably report it to the rest of the clan, but I guess it can be bothersome if other people know their skills.

All I can say, is that their expressions lead me to believe it wasn’t bad at all.
