“Ou, Siphon. If you stop by here again, let’s have a drink!”
Says Gabin from Guardian Sword.
His voice sounds carefree, but Yuno is standing behind Siphon, and her eyes aren’t laughing.
Jin told me these two had themselves a drinking contest during that festival after we beat the dungeon.
“Sora, are you ever coming back here?”
“I’m a traveling merchant so… Also, I want to visit other dungeons, so I probably won’t so soon.”
“Is that why you’re going to the Best Kingdom, because of the dungeon?”
“We were invited by a beast person we met in another country. Apparently there’s a tournament going on, so we were asked if we wanted to watch.”
I give that vague answer to Ash’s question. I can’t tell him the beast king contacted me directly.
We go around saying goodbye to people who helped us, and leave Majolica.
The plan is to head west, go through a town called Altar, and go to Prekes. Then head north and enter the Beast Kingdom.
I’d like to go to Mahia, the capital of the Magic State of Efa, but it’s out of our way, so we can’t this time. We’ll go there next time, when we’re more relaxed.
We have a house here, so I can Transfer here in no time. I’m planning to do that too when it’s time to conquer the dungeon in Prekes.
In any case, we have wagons arranged for us by Will the feudal lord, and the guildmaster. It’s like I’m showing off that we not only participated in beating the dungeon, but we have connections to powerful people too.
And this helps Will too. It shows that he’s close to powerful adventurers.
“I’m a little worried.”
“About what?”
“Elsa and Alto rode on a nice wagon the other time too. If they get used to this, they’re going to have trouble when it’s time to use a regular one.”
Rurika is talking about how the wagon they rode on the Republic of Eldo was a high spec one, that was comfortable and shook very little.
It’s true, the public ones I rode on in the beginning were uncomfortable, and actually, didn’t really have proper seats, because they were used to transport cargo too.
Conversely, this wagon has cushioned seats and plenty of space.
Incidentally, there is my party, along with Elsa, Alto, Shizune, Kaina, and Goblin’s Grief, so we take turns riding on the other wagon.
Currently, it’s Hikari and Mia who are with Goblin’s Grief on the other one.
Kaina is looking out the window, silently watching the scenery. She hasn’t been with us for long, but we told Siphon and the others she’s someone we met in the Dragon Kingdom.
She can eat, and the food she takes in is converted into magic energy. This was done by Calotos and Eliana, so the golem feels more human.
I guess that’s the sort of thing we can expect from gods? Actually, I feel like they did this so she could tell them what food tastes like. Maybe we’re partially to blame for cooking and eating in front of Eliana.
“Should we camp around here?”
The sun is going down, so we take some distance from the road and get ready to camp.
Mia, Elsa, Alto, and Shizune take care of the cooking, while the drivers tend to the horses.
The rest of us use the wagons to make a sleeping area. They’re big, but we can’t all lie down and sleep in them.
Once the food is ready, we all sit in a circle and eat, including the drivers.
After we’re done, we decide the order in which we’ll keep watch, and go to sleep right away. But despite us telling Elsa and Alto they can sleep in a wagon, they want to stay outside.
They’re not being considerate or anything, it’s just more fun. And a new experience for them.
Everyone’s keeping watch at some point, except for Elsa, Alto, and the two drivers.
Map doesn’t show any monster reactions, and few people. And it’s common courtesy to not camp close to strangers.
Sometimes people huddle together, depending on the place, but that’s mostly when people are on foot, or there’s been sightings of monsters near the main road.
We spend a peaceful night, and stay in Altar the next day, before continuing on to Prekes.
