Walking in another world – Chapter 520 – Fors dungeon – Part one (Sorcerer King)

The qualifying rounds of the tournament have begun.

The qualifiers are happening at the same time in a few places around the city, and that’s where the participants will be narrowed down.

Argo and the others who are participating head there early in the morning.

Ryuryu told me the qualifiers will take five days. I was wondering if we should go cheer them on, but since it would be impossible to cheer them equally, we’re going to the dungeon instead.

“It’s their fault if they don’t qualify.”

Shizune is harsh towards Naoto and Shun, but she probably believes they will be fine.

From what I’ve seen of their mock battles, I have a feeling they will qualify, unless they end up facing each other.

The rest is down to luck.

But in any case, the ten of us are at the entrance to the Fors dungeon.

There are usually a lot of people here, but it’s empty because the tournament starts today.

Also, the way this dungeon works is that if someone’s on the first floor, you have to wait. It’s like the boss rooms in Majolica. It’s part of the reason why we decided to take advantage of this opportunity, now that it’s empty.

This dungeon also has a system where if three days pass and you haven’t cleared the room, it ejects you, with a penalty of not allowing you to return for thirty days. But I hear this is rare.

And since we already know what monsters spawn here, no one really goes in blind.

“Let’s go. Don’t worry, we’ll look after you.”

I say, and Elsa and Alto nod with nervous expressions.

That’s to be expected. They’re all of a sudden going into a real dungeon.

“Leave it to me.”

Says Shizune with a smile.

“Hm? What is it?”

Kaina suddenly stops just as we’re going in.

She tilts her head, but quickly goes in after seeing everyone enter the room.

After we’re all inside, the door disappears. Elsa and Alto are surprised when they see that, but the surprises don’t end there.

Five wolves appear in front of us out of nowhere. I can sense strong magic energy where they appear, through Magic Energy Detection.

“Let’s take them out before more appear!”

Before I can even finish saying that, Shizune fires magic at them.

It’s Firestorm. It engulfs the five wolves in flames… And by the time the fire goes out, even the bones are gone.

Well, monsters disappear automatically when they die, so that makes sense.

“W-wow.”

Elsa’s eyes shine as she looks at Shizune, and Alto nods.

Shizune scratches her nose with a smug expression, and takes out the next batch of wolves instantly too.

A superior species of wolf appears with the last batch of five wolves, a fire wolf, but that also goes down in a flash.

In the end, the first floor had fifty wolves and a fire wolf to offer, but Shizune took them all down by herself.

“Are you still good to fire magic?”

“Of course.”

She says to me. She really is the Sorcerer King.

A regular sorcerer would be spent after firing spells like those one after the other… Area of effect magic.

Of particular note, when the superior species appeared, she used both regular and area of effect magic effortlessly.

She has great control over her magic.

“Master, treasure chest!”

Says Hikari while I think back to how Shizune fought.

The treasure chest is right where the monsters appeared. And the magic energy reaction I felt before is completely gone.

There are also doors in front and behind us. The one behind us would take us out of the dungeon, and the one in front to the next floor.

There are fifty-one magic stones in the treasure chest, along with wolf pelt and fire wolf meat. Unfortunately, that’s all. At least it’s nice that we get the materials in good condition.

And the best feature is how we don’t have to worry about the materials while fighting monsters. It would be fine to be mindful of that while the monsters are still weak, but it would be harder the further up we go.

Especially from the seventieth floor up, since we’ll be fighting monsters we haven’t faced before.

Also, we still need to check what monsters appear up there, and how to take them down.

“How about we continue?”

I ask, and Elsa and Alto nod. By casting Appraisal, I can see both leveled up.

Wolves are low rank monsters, but since their levels are low, the fact that so many were hunted means they got a lot of experience.

Both nod to me, and we advance to the second floor.
